The only solution for me is to edit the hosts file, is Rune going to fix this with a Git pull?

Thanks RandomRuneUser

To prevent similar problems in the future it would help if we had a complete list of domains besides dirble.com that a default install of RuneAudio connects to. One such list each for the old official version and for the betas.

Users who wants to set up a RuneAudio device to only play local audio files could then add such domains to the hosts once and for all from the start.

Fantastic idea!

I only use it offline, so if i limit access to all these sites, there should be some speed increase

Perhaps a Rune "Lite" version, which just replaces a radio tuner and CD player would satisfy a demand, too?

I realize that this is not an official poll, but I agree about having just a bare version available (local or mounted drives) with the rest of the extras as options.
The internet radio should be manual entries. Everything else should be in the "Enhancement" option list. Album covers, lyrics, and artist history have no value for my base usage. I setup a mutli-hour playlist and then have no interaction with either a phone or browser. I just listen to the music. If I need further info about the music, I just go back to the device I used to setup the playlist and google it.

Hi everyone,
I've also a slow user interface, but this is different.
When I use the app on my smartphone (Android 8.1) or Google Chome webinterface (android) I can barely browse through my music folders.
I can scroll 10 folders down, wait 5 seconds, etc...
If I install Firefox on my phone, it works quickly. On a PC too even with Chrome.

I've cleaned the Chrome history, rebooted my phone, NAS and Raspberry.
I'm using the latest v.0.5b version (Updated yesterday).

Any suggestions?
Thanks, Jeroen.

I had something similar last week, but have never seen it before so it was unusual. I traced the problem to my internet connection which was active when RuneAudio started, but for some reason had failed while RuneAudio was running. After re-establishing the internet connection it all worked as expected. This is maybe not the same in your situation, any additional diagnostics/information would help us suggest a solution.
If your Pi has on-board WiFi you could try connecting your phone via the RuneAudio Access Point and see if the same problems occur (instructions here: post28222.html#p28222). If this works OK then the problem probably lies within your network or router configuration.

Thank you janui,

I've tried what you suggested.
Modem/router off. RuneAudioAP on, connected with my phone to the accesspoint and opened the RuneAudio app.
The same slow respons is happening (Well, maybe 15 folders instead of 10) . RuneAudio Raspi3B and my NAS are on a fixed IP.
It worked till the day before yesterday perfect.

Again, if I use Firefox on my phone, it works really smooth... (But I don't like Firefox)
What kind of information/diagnostics would be useful for you?

Jeroen.

Edit : I've removed all Chrome updates (back to factory default) but the problem stays the same. :?

This information helps. Now we know that your network and Chrome updates are not the cause. I suspect that the Micro-SD card has corrupted one of the files. This happens occasionally, normally the error recovery on the SD cards works reasonably well. You can try redeploying the RueAudio software or burning a new Micro-SD card from scratch. If you redeploy almost all your settings will be retained and it is quick, but it wont fix the problem if it is Linux-related. To redeploy log in via SSH and execute the following commands:
Code: Select all
cd /var/www
/srv/http/command/rune_shutdown
git config user.email "any@body.com"
git config user.name "anybody"
git config --global core.editor "nano"
umount http-tmp
rm -rf /var/www/{*,.*}
git clone -b 0.5b https://github.com/gearhead/RuneUI.git/ /var/www
chown -R http.http /srv/http/
find /srv/http/ -type f -exec chmod 644 {} \;
find /srv/http/ -type d -exec chmod 755 {} \;
find /etc -name *.conf -exec chmod 644 {} \;
find /usr/lib/systemd/system -name *.service -exec chmod 644 {} \;
chmod 644 /etc/nginx/html/50x.html
chmod 777 /run
chmod 755 /srv/http/command/*
chmod 755 /srv/http/db/redis_datastore_setup
chmod 755 /srv/http/db/redis_acards_details
chmod 755 /etc/X11/xinit/start_chromium.sh
chown mpd.audio /mnt/MPD/*
chown mpd.audio /mnt/MPD/USB/*
chmod 777 /mnt/MPD/USB
chmod 777 /mnt/MPD/USB/*
chown -R mpd.audio /var/lib/mpd
/srv/http/db/redis_datastore_setup check
/srv/http/command/refresh_nics
/srv/http/command/refresh_ao
reboot
You can copy and paste all the commands in one go. RuneAudio will automatically reboot.
If this fails to fix the problem then I suggest you create Micro-CD card again.
