3x powersupply for rpi

Hi
I have made some ekspirement with linear power supplies for the rpi3. First I have powered it with 5v at the gpio, which gave an enormous improvement. But then I removed the "crappy" onboard regulator (for 3,3 and 1.8v) at the rpi board, and powered it direcly at pp8 and pp9. Oh my.... another enourmous improvement in sound
Are there someone who have tried something similar?

interesting
Do you have any pictures, schematics, etc?

Hi
I have attached two picures wgere you can see where I have removed the onboard regulator, and a picture where you can see where I connect the power. PP8; 3.3v og PP9 1.8v

Very nice:). There is only one 3.3v cable and a 1.8v cable....
They dont have ground?

The grund is connected to GPIO pin 6, and the 5v to GPIO pin 2.

Yeah, sorry for the poor soldering (it's so damm small) - the pictures are from my first prototype, which is now dead because I tried to replace the crystal with a better one......that was not a success.....
Are there someone who have tried that with success?

Wow this is great, I have been the wanting to experiment with power supplies and this has given me the push
Could you share the details of the actual ps you used/built
Thanks

Another couple od questions
First is ther a published schematic of the Pi3
PP8 and PP9 which is 3.3 and which is 1.8v
Also is there a chart of current requirements of the Pi3 showing current drain when various functions are turned on or off, whether different I/O is used or not
