Good to know. Btw, do you mean to listen to the new DAC for 100hrs or to warm it up? The ALLO DAC was a second hand v1.0 so I take for granted this was run for much more. The PCM I2S from Aliexpress has been used for hundreds of hours.

The intention of my post was to show, that for some people and for some systems the cheap solutions do the work just fine.

Yes, but if its 2nd hand then no point running in. Enjoy. I am interested in your experience with the ALLO Boss, how it sounds, etc.

I am afraid that I need a better system to hear any differences. Once it is upgraded I will surely compare the two DACs and one based on ES9038Q2M, which I have on my shopping list. For now the ALLO BOSS is fine, just as the $6 DAC based on similar chip. I felt I wanted something better so started with DACs, but it turns out this is not the weakest link (after all the ALLO BOSS had very good reviews).

Yes.

My 1st impressions of the I-Sabre is on the first page. I think, like me, you will really hear a difference.

anyone tested the HifiBerry DAC2 HD? If yes, how does it compare to the I-Sabre and Allo Boss?

You may get more responses if you ask this question on the Raspberry Pi section of the forum. I use the I-Sabre and the sound is incredible.
