Not only far preferable, I see that as the only viable option for anyone with more music than a handful of CDs. My Beethoven amounts to 3450 tracks, my Wagner is 4938 tracks. Imagine scrolling through that on a smart phone.

Yes you're right. Out of interest what program do you use to rip your CDs? I use Ashampoo Music Studio and although good in some ways, doesn't extract the composer data correctly, hence I had to re-tag as described above to get the albums showing under 'Composer'.

PS: Have now tried Exact Audio Copy which does a more complete job of extracting the metadata and is more configurable.
