ODROID C1+ and native DSD via I2S

Hello guys!
Can anybody answer me: does ODROID C1+ support direct output Native DSD via I2S? The fact is, I have ODROID C1+ with Rune and DAC (Soekris dam 1121) which supports PCM and DSD bouth via I2S bus. I listen any PCM format without issue but instead sound I hear a white noise when I tried to play DSD files. In the settings of Rune I switch on and off 'support DSD' but with no positive result.
I will be gratefull for all prompts.
Regards,
Andrew

Hi,

As I know, DoP only support USB.

Hi smallfat!
You are completely right. I can plug my Teac 501 in ODROID via USB and I can listen all DSD files through DoP. But I would like to use I2S bus.

Andrew

Hi Andrew_l,

does ODROID C1+ support direct output Native DSD via I2S?

DSD via I2S is not possible!
The I2S pins can be used to output native DSD, but there is no standard for this.
You have to install a special driver for your DAC.
You have to ask the manufacturer if he can supply such a driver for Linux.

Hello Frank!
Thank you for the reply.
As I know many DACs ,like mine, use the following standard scheme of connecting via I2S bus:
I2S PCM data / DSD right data
I2S PCM Word Clock / DSD left data
I2S PCM Bit Clock / DSD Bit Clock
My question is : can ODROID with Rune deliver three DSD signals ,mentioned above, via I2S pins in principle? Maybe ODROID use the other order of pins to deliver DSD signals, so I could switch them to another scheme of connecting or it surely needs a specific driver to pack DSD signals for transmission via I2S?
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Yes it can, but we have to find a driver for it.
Also we have to find a way how to auto switch between we two modes.

Hi Frank,

Two modes, means PCM and DSD?

Hello Frank!
Thank you for your answer. As I understood, need to use something like this http://bbb.ieero.com
please, take a look at it. This driver is a module of kernel and also it's precompiled version of the driver,
so I will not able to get it separately. What do you think, if I ask for this driver to ArchLinux community, could they help me?
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Andrew_l,

this will not work on the RaspberryPi, because the driver is made only for the BeagleBoneBlack.
A few days ago there was a post about a new DAC with I2S/DSD here on the forum.
Try to contact the author and ask him for an Arch Linux driver.
