Rune with a video player, all in one system

Hi folks,
I am trying to build a complete Hi-Fi system with Raspberry Pi and RuneAudio.
Well, complete for my needs.
Plan is to put D-class amp, tube preamp, tone module, RPi, DAC, input selector and maybe a phono stage inside one enclosure.
I am still in planning and acquiring phase, but I wonder is there a way to have some kind of really basic video player incorporated with Rune.
Raspberry Pi is capable of running HD video, so why not using that capability?!
There is no need for a library with video and media files like xmbc or similar, I only need to play some video file from inserted USB now and then.
Swapping SD cards is not desirable option, and I like Rune Audio to be a center of this system...

Thanks in advance for any idea and help

Hello,

i would like also to install runaudio for quality audio requirement but also to watch some video files.
Is it possible to install on top of runaudio, a video player which could be control with android app?

Thanks

So you could consider the option to install multi boot for your Pi.

maybe just run a plex server and remote into it that way via dualboot?

Hi robertinjo, fabien44. dunghnguyen & dirtylarry,
Interesting topic. Problem is that the more functions something has the less specialised it tends to be is for particular task. For example, KODI can stream video and audio (as well as managing your photo collection), but it is not as good as Rune for audio streaming.
So KODI is a valid solution if you accept the less powerful audio features.
The only other way to go, as mentioned above, is a dual boot solution. If this is a route you wish to investigate further, you could look here: https://github.com/rern/RPi2-3.Dual.Boot-Rune.OSMC

I installed the Raspberry Pi OS on one of my Pi 3's and can perform both of the functions you mentioned. After installing the VLC Media player in the Pi OS I can play movies, audio files etc. from a memory stick. I still use Rune Audio on a different Pi that has a 500GB external SSD attached to it as a Juke Box for parties and family gatherings but most of the time I just use the Pi with the Raspberry Pi Operating System and VLC Media Player.
