How much do the speakers got you spending BTW?

Got them for around $50 a pair, good working condition! Gonna change the grill cloth because of a couple of holes.

That is quite cheap in my opinion. Grill cloth is the one that starts to wear of pretty soon.

(sorry for my bad english)
Hello everybody
we love music and we (my wife and me) had an huge collection buyed FLAC and highres alac files

I have an R Pi2 b and use an Creative SoundblasterX G5 USB highres DAC with integraded headphone amplifier on the USB port. it works fine! (Rune reconized the G5 out of the box)

But today i have ordered an PiFi DAC+ (hifiberry clone) for the Pi2. i think thats better for highres audio files because it`s not USB.
The hifi setup i use is an yamaha AX 497 stereo amplifier (2010) without any digital connection, but the golden "cd/dvd" rca connectors says enough :P
The speakers are: setting A: JBL-LX2 2way(1996) and setting B: B&W DM302 (1995) 2way.

I was collecting (saving) money for an "yamaha network streamer" until i re-discover the Rpi2

I hope that the PiFi DAC+ don`t disappoint me and my wife ;)

UPDATED:

HOME SYSTEM: RuneAudio e6 running on a Rasp Pi 3 Model B with HifiBerry Digi+
Optical Connection to Cambridge Audio 'One' mini-system that is a really really nice amp.
Still got my Denon SC M73 speakers as they really sound nice with the Cambridge system after trying a few others.
Tempted to get the matching speakers and sub for the system in time but, in all honesty, it sounds fine!

WORK SYSTEM: RuneAudio v0.3 (yes old!) with LCD Display running that I can't remember how I got it working so I can't upgrade.
Runs on a Rasp Pi 3 Model B with HifiBerry DAC+ into my old Denon RCD35DAB amplifier.
Speakers are a lovely pair of (budget) 1985 vintage KEF Coda 3 that, despite their critics, sound great.

Do you think a set up like that excels in smaller spaces?

If this was a question for me - yes it does - it's a smaller space to fill with sound so no need for a huge amplifier and speaker system to alter the air in the room when a smaller modest system works best and also looks good.

My next system will also be Denon but with digital inputs so I can upgrade my Pi to Digital outs and let the Denon do the converting.
