USB audio device cm108

Postby ruined » 25 Apr 2015, 14:06

Hi,

got a usb device which is not working out of the box with runeaudio.
I found out that this device is a cm108.
How did I find out? See here: https://learn.adafruit.com/usb-audio-ca ... ur-chipset

Now I tried to get it working. Since this instructions (see link above) is based on Debian, it does not work with runeaudio / arch.

I was able to do some workarounds for the installations, which I think worked by doing following.
Code: Select all
wget https://raw.github.com/Hexxeh/rpi-update/master/rpi-update -O /usr/bin/rpi-update
BRANCH=next rpi-update
pacman -Sy --force raspberrypi-firmware-bootloader linux-raspberrypi
pacman -S binutils

But for the configuration part I don't know what to do, since I don't know how the audio stuff works in Linux. Thats why I need some "translation" for this: https://learn.adafruit.com/usb-audio-ca ... lsa-config

Which files I have to modifiy? Also the alsa config (which I had no success with).

Any help is appreciated. Thx!

Hi ruined,

got a usb device which is not working out of the box with runeaudio.

What is your exact problem?
- no sound at all?
- is it listed on the MPD settings page?

pacman -Sy --force raspberrypi-firmware-bootloader linux-raspberrypi

On RuneAudio updating the firmware and kernel is not always a good idea, because this may brake the system.

To help you it would be great to get more information:
- hardware you are working on (RP, RP2, BBB ....)?
- RuneAudio updates installed from git?
- your debug info as described here.

RuneAudio uses MPD as core musicplayer, so the file to modify is mpd.conf, or better get your DAC listed in the RuneAudio database.

BTW: USB DACs with cm109 work without any problems on all systems.

Hi,

1. Thx for that quick response
2. Good to know that cm109 is running immediately. Not sure how to get such a thing, but I'll try.
3. Exact problem: Just some noise (no music).
4. What you mean with MPD settings? On the MPD configuration page there is a device listed in the dropdown "USB PnP Sound device".
5. The update did not brake anything (I guess). Worked as before. But newly installed the system in the meanwhile.
6. Hardware: Raspberry Pi (Version 1), Model B
7. Updates: Nope, was not aware of that update possibility, but thx for the hint. Did install the lastest downloadable release. I will try an update...
8. Debug info: http://pastebin.com/uW0jDLvV
9. Still not sure about the difference between alsa and mpd, need to read about this.
10. Thx again!

Hi,

4. What you mean with MPD settings? On the MPD configuration page there is a device listed in the dropdown "USB PnP Sound device".

Yes, and did you try to select this device?
