Unable to install i2c-tools

Postby stablgr » 02 Sep 2019, 16:42

RuneAudio : Re1
Kernel : 4.14.34-1-ARCH
Hardware : Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Rev 1.2

I'm trying to connect a new i2c OLED display to my Raspberry Pi running RuneAudio so I can display artist and track info etc., but seem to be stumbling at the first steps. I've started with a clean install, and RuneAudio appears to be working fine with an IQaudIO DAC plugged in.

I can ssh into the Pi ok but when I try to install i2c-tools with
Code: Select all
sudo pacman -S i2c-tools

Get the following, and the package fails to install
Code: Select all
resolving dependencies...
looking for conflicting packages...

Packages (1) i2c-tools-4.1-1

Total Download Size:   0.07 MiB
Total Installed Size:  0.31 MiB

:: Proceed with installation? [Y/n]
:: Retrieving packages...
error: failed retrieving file 'i2c-tools-4.1-1-armv7h.pkg.tar.xz' from mirror.archlinuxarm.org : The requested URL returned error: 404
warning: failed to retrieve some files
error: failed to commit transaction (unexpected error)
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

I'm still very new to this, so apologies if I'm making a fundamental error. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Gary

Hi stablgr,

Try this:
Code: Select all
pacman -Sy i2c-tools
The 'sudo' is not required. The 'y' is important, it tells pacman to update it's listing of packages before attempting to install.

Thanks Janui. That worked a charm.

I really need to spend some time learning Linux and better understand what I'm doing rather than just blindly following other examples I've seen on-line.
