Trying to add support for NAD D 3020

Postby mars68 » 10 Dec 2014, 22:06

I have a Pi connected via usb to an NAD D3020 amplifier, which is seen as a DAC.
Works great but for the hardware volume control.

What are the steps involved in making hardware volume control work for a specific DAC ?

Do I need to add an entry in redis_acards_details for the NAD D 3020 ?

Below an excerpt of dmesg and the output of lsusb.

Thank you.

Indeed :-)

How can I check if the DAC does support hw vol control ?
Or do you mean that the fact it doesn't work out of the box means hardware volume control is not supported by the DAC ?

Tx

To quickly check if your DAC has it, type alsamixer in the CLI and see if your device is listed after pressing F6.

I can definitely see the device when pressing F6.
    Card: NAD USB Audio
    Chip: USB Mixer

But still enabling hardware volume control in the UI doesn't have any effect.
Nor playing with the volume control under alsamixer: the "db gain" increases from 0.0 to 0.49, when i move the volume under alsamixer from 0 to 100 ...

Ok, an update for this kind of cases is going to be released soon. Keep an eye on the 0.3-beta main thread.
