Supported browsers for the web UI

Postby ianhaynes » 10 Aug 2015, 16:31

The Windows 'app' for Rune is based on Firefox and I typically use either this or FF itself when controlling Rune from a PC. If I use an Android tablet, Opera seems best and Firefox has a few issues, not least that it hangs after being used for some time. Other browsers give variable results and the most common problem is that they most won't delete tracks from the queue.

Are there any plans to give wider compatability in modern browsers?

Hi ianhaynes, can you specify exactly the issues and the version of the browsers?
For example, on my phone (OnePlus One, Android) I've never experienced problems when deleting tracks from the queue. Tested with Chrome, Firefox and Dolphin.

I've checked various browsers on various devices and most work as expected. The ones that don't (and in all cases it's when deleting tracks from the queue) are IE based.

I'd prefer to use my Windows 8.1 Phone as the controlling device but at the moment it will be either my slow Android tablet or old iPod 5.

Is it possible to msolve the IE11 issue?

For what it's worth here's a summary:

On Windows 7 x64

Firefox 39.0.3 and the Rune app both work fully as expected

Chrome 44.0.2403 also works as expected

Opera 12 and Opera 30 - work as expected

IE11 - does not refresh when deleting tracks from the queue. The tracks are deleted but even if the browser is refreshed they are still shown in the queue. If you add a track in another open browser you get the alter window showing which track has been added but it still doesn't show in the queue.

On Windows 10 x64

Edge browser - same as IE 11 on Windows 7

IE - same as IE11 on Windows 7

On Android 4.2.2 tablet:

Opera 63 - works as expected

Firefox 39 - works as expected but occasionally closes without warning

Dolphin 11.4 - works as expected

Chrome - 43 - works as expected

On Windows Phone 8.1

IE11 Mobile - similar behaviour to IE11 on Windows 7

UC Browser - similar behaviour to IE11 on Windows 7

Both browsers take a long time to refresh if the phone goes into standby. Probably a phone or network issue

On IPod 5

Safari - works as expected

Dolphin - works as expected

Both reasonably quick to refresh from standby mode.

Do the IE issues also occur with the latest nightly builds?

Hi ACX,

Do the IE issues also occur with the latest nightly builds?

That's excellent, it is fixed.

It has though introduced another problem in that the volume control is broken in all browsers. Also on WP the play list doesn't always respond to being scrolled.

Great to have the track delete issue fixed though, thanks.

Hi ianhaynes,

please go to http://runeaudio/dev and update (git pull) an other time.
You have to reboot or restart rune_SY_wrk.
Volume knob should be fixed now.

Not fully fixed unfortunately. The volume control seems to work but then moves back to zero again.

Hi,

for me it works on all devices and browser.
Did you reboot your device and also refresh the browser cache?
