Sound signatures?

Postby asilker » 22 Sep 2015, 15:06

There are a few different sound signatures in the settings for RA. Has anyone spent time with these? Comments on audible differences?

Bump. Obviously I intend on spending some time with this setting as soon as I have time for critical listening again, but in the meantime are there any comments?

I'm surprised nobody has anything to say about this as one of the biggest draws to RA is the signal integrity and transparency

Well a big draw to the runeaudio system is that it maintains purity of signal. But here's the description of the sound signature settings:

So what are the mentioned audible differences?

Well I think that the description is self-explanatory. The audible results may vary depending on your setup and your room. With a sufficiently revealing setup you should be able to notice the differences across the profiles and pick the one that best fits your needs/taste. These profiles have no univoque impact: while lowering the latency with more "aggressive" settings is better on paper (making the sound more tight and defined), that could not work well for your setup, which could benefit more from more "loose" settings for a smoother sound. So play with them and pick your favorite one.

Hi,

Which is the most "agressive" setting and which the most "loose" setting? What do these settings actually do in the background?

Which setting is 100% bit perfect?

Thanks!

The most "agressive" is the "Orion V2" one, the most "loose" setting is the "Um3ggh1U" one. As the description says, the profiles act on the kernel timings and all of them are 100% bit perfect. There is no DSP involved and the digital signal path isn't touched at all.

I spent some time with the settings recently. I'm confident that my system is reasonably revealing, but I couldn't hear an audible difference in settings.

You change to another system. I have an old 70s Luxman amp and i cleary ear the differences.

Can you tell us what the differences are then? That's kind of the point of the thread... I think so far you might be the first one to clearly hear them. I'd be interested to know what they arw
