S/PDIF on UDOO?

Postby dr165 » 15 Dec 2014, 14:04

Hi,
I,m really impressed by this exiting piece of software, thank you all!
Now I'm trying 0.3 beta on rpi with wolfson audio card and S/PDIF out to Dacmagic 100 with pleasure,
but my goal is to run it on UDOO Quad because RPI is too weak to play 24/192 without problems.

Will the upcoming version of RuneAudio for UDOO have the output-option of S/PDIF implemented?
Volumio 1.5 doesn't have it yet.

We haven't dealth yet with the S/PDIF on the UDOO but we definetly want to implement that.

By the way, the Rpi should only have problems while playing hi-res through USB, but as you are using the Wolfson Audio Card that should not be a problem. Maybe you are facing the common issue of having multiple outputs enable at the same time, so check it with the mpc outputs command and make sure that the "bcm2835 ALSA" one is disabled.

Thank you for the hint, ACX!

I must correct myself, 24/192 -files are played well (now) and "bcm2835 ALSA" was already disabled.

The actual problem is DSD. When the DSD-option is disabled, DSD64-files are only played with big dropouts every second (top: cpu > 80%). When the DSD-option is enabled, nothing comes out.

UDOO seems to play these files without problems.

Ok so in that case it's probably a performance issue as Rpi doesn't have enough horsepower.
