Hi, guys.
Can someone implant in the distribution RuneAudio drivers for Allo Katana DAC? Many would appreciate it.

Hi Rern

Thanks for your reply and clarification

No need for apprehension, I can only applaud the effort to reduce SD card usage further.
Though I'm by no means an expert in linux/programming, I'd be more than happy to devote some of my time and resources to help test and debug on my hardware. I hope my reports will help others as well.

I've done as you suggested, started from a fresh flashed image and some test tracks on usb stick
Seems very promising, nice and slick GUI for the most part

- Still no AP visible on initial boot, or force reboot, though led on usb dongle lights up
Code: Select all
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0bda:8176 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8188CUS 802.11n WLAN Adapter

The old way of taking out the card, fixing on linux pc, and copying known good wlan profile in /etc/netctl works (which is what the original 0.5b needs as well)

- Playing test tracks from usb drive work fine, loading and scanning large DB on NAS now
GUI becomes pretty much unresponsive while scanning, though network throughput and cpu load seem pretty low (monitored from ssh top and nload commands)
music plays nicely

- I seem to be unable of doing updates though the addons page, stuck at Master branch ?
Is there a way to change to a more beta/testing version?

- The USB thing is for everybody.
- It's always good to get more testers. I'll let you know.
- The access point is mainly for on-board WiFi. I'll look into dongles.

Hi Rern

Report back (another fresh SD flash + copy network config to /etc/netctl), boots immediately

  • Updates now work fine, you're ahead of the time (20190912)
  • Playing test tracks from USB stick is ok, only thing is track advance/change is a bit slowish (new song is playing for ~5" before GUI updates)
  • Clicking the mounted USB drive now shows a 'scanning for network shares' popup window instead of the mount/unmount popup window
  • Personally I found the buttons to update/recreate db in the Sources tab useful, now possible only from extra button next to Sources button in Settings menu / cog wheel
  • Searching and creating coverart database doesn't work (no files found) at least on USB track files, though there are embedded coverarts in most of my tracks
  • I like the no buttons interface/large coverart option (slick on tablet/smart phone or touch screen), but I believe the buttons on the bottom of screen don't do as shown in the overlay.
Tapping on the right of the bottom bar opens the settings menu = ok
Tapping on the left of the bottom bar also opens the settings menu instead of toggling repeat single ?
    (Swiping works ok)

Scanning large db now, GUI is responsive

Is there an option to add a playlists button on the library page (if any exist?) Now only accessible from the playlist page..

I understand very low on the priority list but the local listener / Rune Redis service no longer works as it did in janui's version 0.5 b (for LCD info display - pydPiper scripts)
Possibly even lower, but no shutdown scripts for ATX either

D.

EDIT
another install, saw in the code on github that only ext USB drives are used, more dirs are created on USB stick (previously had a FAT formatted stick)

coverart search now works

testing webstream and stream from NAS is less than satisfactory at this time
often pauses in sound
alsa_output: Decoder is too slow; playing silence to avoid xrun
is shown a lot in mpd.log file
no option to increase buffer size (network is pretty crowded in my part of the universe)

Hi Rern,

thanks for a super cool release. Really like it.
I'm using RaspberryPI 3B+ with Allo Digione Signature.
All is working well.
Some small issues, maybe they are already reported but here's my short findings:
- Webradio : Adding a new url but after added the url I cannot access the webradio anymore.. It just keeps showing the Runeaudio loading logo
- Is the Hostname access working like in 04 and 05.. So that instead of using IP-address one could wrote like: hostname.local to access the player?
I can only access it using ip-address.

Thanks.

Hi,

one other thing I noticed is that after rebooting my network share is no longer visible.
If I add it again using same mount name it gives an error saying that network mount name already exists.
Anyone else having mounting problems? I'm using Options vers=1.0 nothing else.

fstab:

Code: Select all
#
# /etc/fstab: static file system information
#
# <file system> <dir>   <type>  <options>       <dump>  <pass>
/dev/mmcblk0p1  /boot   vfat    defaults        0       0
var-tmp         /var/tmp        tmpfs nodev,nosuid,noatime,mode=1777,size=5M 0       0
logs            /var/log        tmpfs nodev,nosuid,noatime,mode=1777,size=5M 0       0
rune-logs       /var/log/runeaudio      tmpfs nodev,nosuid,noatime,mode=1777,size=5M 0       0
http-tmp        /srv/http/tmp           tmpfs nodev,nosuid,noatime,mode=1777,size=5M,uid=http,gid=http 0       0
//192.168.1.7/Music /mnt/MPD/NAS/Music cifs x-systemd.automount,username=Toube,password=sdfs,uid=1000,gid=92,iocharset$

@Alien8 did you manage to get your NAS working after rebooting?
I can of course setup a local USB drive and have my music there.. though currently I have connected the Rpi using LAN cable directly to where my NAS is sitting so the speed is good on that view.

I can also participate in troubleshooting, I think it would benefit people to get the NAS functionality working as well.
Let me know how to proceed?

EDIT:
if I use the command mount -a in terminal then after rebooting the NAS mount is there but only for a little while and then it gets hidden again.

Toube

Hi Toube

I have fewer issues now.
Mind you I've been following the UPDATE branch. (Long press on update button on add-ons page)
My system now survives a reboot, NAS mount works at boot.

Only sometimes a reboot causes system to hang, a power cycle is required. Hard to reproduce that one...

@Rern
The hickups are much less with increasing buffer size. Only at high system load are there pauses in the music stream.

Library scan find about 2/3 of my files, after second update all files are found...

The find coverarts plugin some how misses a lot of files (I have a lot of id3 tagged flac files with embedded cover arts)

Only no data through redis for status scripting and shut down scripts are missing for me now.

D

EDIT

another issue.
After a long time of headless play, returning to the website trows up errors like
Code: Select all
Warning: number_format() expects parameter 1 to be double, string given in /srv/http/indexbody.php on line 70 Warning: number_format() expects parameter 1 to be double, string given in /srv/http/indexbody.php on line 70 Warning: number_format() expects parameter 1 to be double, string given in /srv/http/indexbody.php on line 70 Warning: number_format() expects parameter 1 to be double, string given in /srv/http/indexbody.php on line 70 Warning: number_format() expects parameter 1 to be double, string given in /srv/http/indexbody.php on line 70 Warning: number_format() expects parameter 1 to be double, string given in /srv/http/indexbody.php on line 70 Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'RedisException' with message 'read error on connection' in /srv/http/indexbody.php:288 Stack trace: #0 /srv/http/indexbody.php(288): Redis->del('reboot') #1 /srv/http/index.php(51): include('/srv/http/index...') #2 {main} thrown in /srv/http/indexbody.php on line 288

after a while it returns to normal, being pretty much unresponsive and pausing music meanwhile.

hi rern,

thank you for your hard work. I really like the aesthetic changes of runeaudio.

I encounter some problems. With your first version I couldn't choose my audio output USB (teac UD-501) and I couldn't configure my Nas.

With this new version (e1.1 with updates) my Teac USB is recognized but I still can not configure my NAS while it is very well recognized in runeaudio 0.5b.

Here are my settings for a synology Nas

NFS
Name: Music_Nas
ip: 192.168.1.5
Share path: /volume1/music (i have also try with: /volume1/music/)
Options: (nothing in phis part)

I have always: Mount failed

Could you help me please or is this a problem that will be fixed in a future update?

cordially

Pierre

Hi Alien8,

tried the Update but it still sometimes shows my NAS under Network icon and sometimes not. But it always show the song count in the library and I can search the library (NAS) for my music. I'd really like to be able to browse it too using the Network Icon.
So the NAS functionality is not how it supposed to be currently. This is imo the biggest drawback and hopefully Rern could possibly fix it :(
