RuneAudio 0.5-beta for most Raspberry Pi models

Raspberry Pi related support

Re: RuneAudio 0.5-beta for most Raspberry Pi models

Postby mihneanu » 15 Feb 2020, 19:44

Hello guys, I am a RuneAudio user since 2016, I am using Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ with an I-Sabre V4 ES9023 TCXO (from Audiophonics). I have upgraded recently to the .5 version (a big thanks to the developers) and everything went smoothly, with one exception - and this is the reason for this post.
I am trying to setup the power button and the LCD and both solutions that I want to use are blocked by Docker. Specifically, I want to install https://github.com/dhrone/pydPiper and https://github.com/audiophonics/Raspberry-pwr-management.
Both installs are stuck on the Docker install phase. The message I am receiving is
Code: Select all
ERROR: Unsupported distribution 'archarm'
.
Apparently all the install files are using this command to install docker:
Code: Select all
curl -sSL https://get.docker.com | sh
. I believe the problem is that the script on https://get.docker.com performs a check of the Linux distribution, but only have cases for ubuntu|debian|raspbian|centos|fedora.
Anyway, I am blocked at this step... I've tried to install Docker myself using github or tar packages, but without success.
Please help me solve this issue, I am sure this is an easy task for someone who actually knows Linux.

Thank you,
Mihnea

Hello s.k.! Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately the I've already tried those solutions without success. I also get Docker related errors.
I am trying now to set up the Display using the original 2015 instructions from Audiophonic site.
Stuck again when I try to run
Code: Select all
dpkg  -i python-rpi.gpio_0.5.11-1_armhf.deb

I get this message:
Code: Select all
-bash: dpkg: command not found

Then, when I try to install dpkg:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install dpkg

I get this message:
Code: Select all
sudo: apt-get: command not found

This is hopeless. I guess my only options are to forget about the Display or to return to the old trusty image...
If anyone of you guys can give me an advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Mihnea

I'm not linux expert, but I think archlinux have pacman instead apt get.
For me this was useful :
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pacman/Rosetta

Take a look here as well

Hello again. I finally have the display working, using pydPiper (after a fresh Rune install). The issue was that I first installed the power management pack and I guess this messed something up.
Anyway, if anyone is interested, this is the quick method:
Code: Select all
git clone https://github.com/dhrone/pydPiper
cd pydPiper
chmod 755 rune_version5.0_install.sh
./rune_version5.0_install.sh

You will be prompted for the display driver, gpio pins and other details. You can see the options by looking in this file "configure.py".

Thank you for your help,
Mihnea

My son and I have both been using the Rune Audio Player, combined with Raspberry Pi's and SSD's for several years and have found that it simply just works. A very small leaning curve and therefore easy to figure out and use. It don't get no better than that. Keep up the good work. Glad to see some additional development going on as we would hate to see such an excellent piece of software fall by the wayside. Thanks and keep it comin'.

Hello, thank you for your hard work and for updating RuneAudio and adding new versions. But I wonder if you could tell me how it is now made with dab + via usb dvb-t dab + dongle, or is there anything known about it or that it will not be available through RuneAudio and whether we can expect a newer version of this RuneAudio this year or no.

Hello Janui, I haven't sent any messages for a long time, but a small problem leads me to ask you if you have a tip to solve it. For a few days, it is no longer possible to access the lyrics of the songs and Runeaudio displays the message "No Lyrics server available". Likewise I no longer have access to Rern's "addons".
I use your version 0.5 beta for which I adapted a driver to be able to control the card based on 9038Q2M of Audiophonics. And I have to say, this is a great, stable version and I thank you for everything you have done and for your availability when I need support.
I noticed that Rern offers a new Runeaudio + R e3 image and I wanted to know if it is based on your developments or if it is a fork developed in parallel.
Finally do you advise to switch to this version or do you plan to release a next release?
Thanks again !
Nocolo

Hi,
Been using the 0.5 version for ages and before that 0.4

I've kept to it as the latest version won't play my 352.8 files reliably i.e. after a few minutes they break into static. Stop Runeaudio, start again, all is fine for a few minutes, then static...

Have a problem though with Airplay on the 0.5 version, just doesn't work. Debug is below.

Hope some kind soul can provide a solution!
