Hi

I have installed runeaudio v0.3 on a pi2.

It works well with my usb dac (atoll 100) with an usb connection.

Unfortunately, with my hiface 1 (it s recognised by runeaudio), i have huge crackling sound.

Is it normal ?

Hi XaV, the HiFace 1 is not supported out of the box, you need to manually install the Linux drivers to make it work.

To all those with the spinning circle(s) and the connection issue, I had the same. Mine only started when I configured wifi. For me, the fix is simply starting the "rune_PL_wrk" service. It can be restarted via dev interface. Once started, it's off and running!

Wow. Shouldn't have posted that. The second I did the spinning circles started back. It had been up and running for quite some time too. Hmmm....

A restart of "rune_SY_wrk" fixed it that time.... hmmm....

playback freezes/stops within first few seconds of FLAC playback each song.
Restarting song playback from MPD controller eventually works and rest of song plays OK.
Very consistent. Occasionally a song plays without freezing.

setup:
raspberry pi 2 with HiFiBerry Digi+ (selected "digi" in config.txt)
Lumin App MPD control point -- http://www.luminmusic.com/app.html
Synology NAS (DSM 5.2) w/ SlimServer UPnP & Synology UPnP servers

runeaudio download is 0.3-beta_20150304
credit page on local rune says: release version: 0.4 (build: beta-20141216)

rune debug info:
http://pastebin.com/2CF9aL7k

just set this up last night. For the most part quite straightforward and painless. - thanks for all the work to make this so!
I’m testing as an eventual solution to replace my squeezebox setup.(so luckily it’s not yet in “production” where the wife and kids would complain)

using MPD - this could be the issue? (saw one note about MPD CPU utilization - but utilization looks OK?)

I currently lean toward MPD since it is UPnP, so (1) does not require mapping the network drive on the renderer and (2) allows flexibility in UI choice (though I very well may prefer rune UI :-)

as time allows I’ll try various configurations an settings to see if there is any improvement and report back. (NAS/Controller/RuneAudio)

Hi eclectic2k,

welcome to RuneAudio.

You are using a wired network connection, so please try to disable wifi:
Get access to the console and execute:
Code: Select all
systemctl disable netctl-auto@wlan0

Your device will boot much faster.

Next thing i would do is to update the system:
Code: Select all
cd /var/www
git stash
git pull

Is your music library fully indexed (mpd has finished updating)?

Are there any Alternatives?

Hi jonas18z, we've been very busy lately, so we had to delay the 0.4 release. Moreover, we are already working on the next version of RuneAudio which will introduce a huge code refactoring and many improvements. So please be patient because RuneAudio is alive and healthy :)

For me this is a dead project I had moved to moode player that's maybe not better but it's a active project.

Sorry, mods, this is probably out of topic. Please feel free to move that elsewhere if needed.

Moode is only active as long as the one guy behind it is acitve, so a lot of uncertainty, here.
Also, the guy has removed the various kernel tweaks that made a perceptible difference in sound because "I can't hear a difference"... well too bad for you buddy but others can (in a reliable way), so removing this function for a "hifi" player seems kind of counter-productive.
I tried it a couple of weeks ago and yes, the UI improvements are nice, but certainly not game-changing.

Thanks and good luck to all those guys who invest time and often money on these projects.

Your lack of faith is disturbing me... :)

I confirm we still are fully active on development, even if we haven't disclosed many informations yet. We just opted to keep the hype (and the pressure on us...) low. Huge improvements are going to come soon, expecially on the UI side. And, most important, audio quality and usability are still and will always be our main goals.
