No device tree settings for hifiberry -dac, Pi B, Rune 0.3

Postby Nibbos » 23 Nov 2019, 17:46

Hi,
Already enjoying music from my NAS via my old Pi B and RuneAudio via the headphone jack, but am trying to get the HiFiBerry DAC card to output sound.I've followed the instructions here: https://www.runeaudio.com/documentation/troubleshooting/rpi-troubleshooting/#enabling-i2s-dacs-and-digital-output-boards but when I PuTTY in to my Pi none of the code below is there:

Code: Select all
# Uncomment one of these lines to enable an audio interface
    #device_tree_overlay=hifiberry-dac
    device_tree_overlay=hifiberry-dacplus
    #device_tree_overlay=hifiberry-digi
    #device_tree_overlay=hifiberry-amp
    #device_tree_overlay=iqaudio-dac
    #device_tree_overlay=iqaudio-dacplus

I tried to add the line myself under the section:

Code: Select all
# RuneAudio settings
cmdline=cmdline_linux-arch-rpi_3.12.26-1-ARCH.txt
kernel=linux-arch-rpi_3.12.26-1-ARCH.img
device_tree_overlay=hifiberry-dac

And I've edited:
/etc/modules-load.d/raspberrypi.conf.
by commenting out:

Code: Select all
#snd-bcm2835

However, now I can't connect to it via phone or computer using 192.168.0.xxx and so cannot use the RuneAudio player at all.

Is the fact that all of the device tree settings being absent mean that the Pi B won'r support the HiFIBeryy DAC card? It worked fine when I had Volumio installed (but Volumio was too slow and glitchy as an interface).

Any suggestions or guidance, please?

Many thanks

Nibbos

I'm using Rune version 0.4 with a Raspberry 2B+ PI and a generic HiFi DAC+ (I^2S) I think as you describe. I did not try 0.3 when I set it up 2 years ago. I did use / give the program admin privileges to get into my NAS file server.
