IQaudIO Pi-DigiAMP+ (PowerDAC)

Postby gswg » 18 Jun 2015, 13:13

I'm pleased to announce the new I2S Digital AMP for use with the RaspberryPi - The IQaudIO Pi-DigiAMP+

The Pi-DigiAMP+ builds upon our awesome Pi-DAC+ and Pi-AMP+ products, and using the latest TI devices delivers the first Full-HD audio capable solution for the Raspberry Pi to HAT specification (EEPROM). All at a great cost saving over the previous separate Pi-DAC+ and Pi-AMP+ solution.

Features:

    Full-HD 192/24b with 2x20w with 15v DC supply

    Uses standard IQaudIO Pi-DAC drivers and GPIO22 mute.

    Available now on http://www.tindie.com and via our international distributors.

    Just add speakers!

The Pi-DigiAMP+ can be seen in the attached pictures within a HiFi project case using external power supply and rotary encoder for volume. This was demo'd at this month's CamJam driving our favourite QAcoustics 2010i speakers.

The Pi-DigiAMP+ is not only suitable as a complete streaming HiFi solution but for in ceiling / behind wall speaker installations, retro radio rebuilds, in-car, boombox builds, kiosk etc.

At the same time we have re-released the IQaudIO Pi-DAC+, still with the brilliant audio and build quality, but now with IR sensor and rotary encoder headers. The IR sensor header is designed to take a standard Vishay tsop IR sensor.

Gordon, looks great!

Can you tell us more about that aluminum case?
Synology DS214+ -> RP3 -> Hifiberry Digi+ -> Audio-Gd NOS1704 (coax) -> Audio-GD C-2 preamp/headphone amp ->

1) Yamaha M-4 Power Amp -> Energy Pro 22 Speakers OR 2) HiFiMan HE-400i

Audio Nirvana!!!

The case is from one of our customers in Germany - Abacus Electronics - as is the 15v power supply etc.

We are investigating similar but price is obviously a key consideration.

Gordon, great solution, finally an amp with a DAC going up to 24bit/192kHz.

I only wonder if the amplification (2x20 watts) is enough for my regular bookshelf speakers which are rated 80-120 watt din. Any idea how it performs, control the speakers and also the generated heat.

I've just received my digiamp.

Rune doesn't have an option for digiamp, so I have configured it as PiDAC+. However, I don't get any audio output.

Is digiamp+ already supposed to work with rune 0.3?

There is a pre-configured Rune image on www.iqaudio.com/downloads which un-mutes the AMP at startup.

Hope that helps.

Hi Gordon,

On your post announcing the digiAmp, you mentioned that it was possible to feed an audio signal other than from the DAC.

the Pi-AMP will take a 8way connection from the Pi-DAC for Audio but the Pi-AMP will accept any audio just as easily.

How is that achieved?

Is it possible to switch inputs between the DAC and an other?

More suitable would be to use new standard which allows up to 90W :o
PoE HAT:
Input Voltage: 37–57V DC, Class 2 device
Output Power: 5V DC/2.5A

You’re not going anywhere at 90W with 5V @ 2.5A - don’t you know basic physics? The most you can get ou5 of that is 12.5W.

And ‘new standard’? I’ve got a PoE switch from 2009, and PoE had been around before that.

What a pathetic attempt to spam your product, by trying to push down another.

Reported.
