Installing Alsaequal manually

Postby The Reverend » 30 Jan 2016, 16:00

Howdy,

is there a way to manually add alsaequal? I am running a C1+ with the Hifi shield.

I used
pacman -S alsaequal

but it seems alsaequal is not in the repository. I found quite a good guide on how to configure alsaequal to work with mpd. The high frequency responce of the Hifi shield could need a little tweaking. Atm i just use the tone controls of my preamp but i would like to build a new preamp myself and i could leave out the tone control circuitry when there is a software equalizer running.

Code: Select all
==> ERROR: Running makepkg as root is not allowed as it can cause permanent,
catastrophic damage to your system.

do i have to add a new user for this or is there a way to get around this?

Yes
You have to add a new user (with home directory) and instal "base-devel"

Ok, alsaequal is installed and running but i cant add it as output device to the mpd manually.

When i edit the mpd manually a waring screen pops up in the MPD config window and thats it. If i choose edit manually and save the changes the warning window still pops up. If i cant select the equal plugin as output device its not working.

And its finally up, running and working.

I can write a little how to guide if anyone is interested. But this needs some experience with Linux in general and manual file editing. On the other hand you cant really brake anything, you can always reload a working image to the sd card.

System load has not increased at all, next thing i will try isusing the mbeq plugin but for now i am pleased an sound is great.
