I need Mono output

Postby FredBeck » 26 Aug 2018, 11:43

Hi there!
I need mono output in order to tune my enclosure prototype. Unfortunately the mono button on my DAC died after I dropped it on the floor :(
I created a file in /usr/share/alsa.conf.d with different variations around
https://alsa.opensrc.org/Asoundrc#Downm ... eo_to_mono
but no cigar...
Thank you.
Fred

So I ended up soldering a stereo to mono cable.
Thanks for nothing.
I asked two questions on this forum and never got a single reply, not even a "rtfm stupid you".
Do I smell, or what?
I your policy is "support us or we won't support you" then make it clear. Also, post a bitcoin address because I don't use paypal.

I don't look here all that often, but I was just going to suggest using a Y-splitter to combine the stereo down to mono. 2-M to 1-F might be a little uncommon. I have a number of RCA Y's 1-M to 2-F to split my pre-amp out to multiple amps, but you should be able to find just about anything online these days without resorting to soldering. Not saying that busting out the iron is bad, just make sure you use heat shrink. I've had electrical tape dry up and pull away over the years.
