Hello From SW UK

Postby jonclancy » 14 May 2014, 16:36

Hi All,

I'm new to rune audio. I have been trying Volumio but been unable to see my NAS. I can see it fine in rune. Just a question, please? I have set up a test folder (Music-Server/Air) with three albums. All of these folders are visible on my network and via rune, but not the songs in them. I click on the album folder settings and "update this folder". The "Browse" tab turns to "Updating", but I don't know how long it will take to index around 10 tracks in that folder. I was hoping a full database update would take a reasonable time on three albums (and expecting overnight on the 280Gb or 500 artists I have in my iTunes library).

So, have I missed anything, please? Also, I am aiming to get my Pi running headless over wifi, feeding I2S into my TDA1541A DAC. Then I can sell my CD player collection!! :D Please keep up the good work. Using a Pi in this way is brilliant - I am lost with the Linux, but have learned to use PuTTY while playing with Volumio and the SUDO command (which I now see isn't what ARCH uses!).

Thanks again for any help advice.

Hi Jon,

What filetype is your music. Try a folder with an MP3. I''ve got a lot of music and it updates in about 10 minutes, but not all filetypes are seen in rune. Also, check your permissions.

Hi jonclancy, welcome to RuneAudio :)
Do you have ALAC files in those folders? If yes, take a look at this thread. You can manually enable ffmpeg decoder editing MPD's configuration in /etc/mpd.conf file.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I run ALAC (MP3s are banned! :D ) - I'll take a look at the thread. I've also had a look at the wifi config stuff. I can get widc-curses to run, but not see my Edimax. I'll keep trying the stuff in the wiki.

All the best
