Flash Rune OS on nand

Postby LC31 » 27 May 2015, 17:13

Dear all,

I have been the proud owner of a Cubietruck for a while now, but I am relatively new in the Linux world. So far I managed to install Lubuntu/Android on nand and had fun with it just for the sake of it. However I had no real use for my Cubie until I found Rune OS.

My question is the following: is there a way, and if so how to, install Rune OS on the Cubie's nand? I managed to do it with the above-mentioned systems by using PhoenixSuit. Yet when I try to do the same with Rune OS, PhoenixSuit prompts the following message: "image file invalid".

Could you please tell me what I should do?

Best,

PS: FYI, I also downloaded Volumio and encountered the same issue.

Hi LC31,

Yes there is, download the image for Cubietruck and write it to a sd card and boot it..
Next go to the root folder and execute the script nand-install.sh as described here.

Hi codewarrior,

Im having problems with flashing the NAND on my cubietruck

What are your problems?

The script i mentioned above works perfect.
The only thing that you have to do manually, is to create the folders:
* /mnt/MPD/LocalStorage
* /mnt/MPD/NAS
* /mnt/MPD/USB
* /mnt/MPD/Webradio

Hi Frank,

thank you for your help. This is the error I get,

Pass 3: Checking directory connectivity
Pass 4: Checking reference counts
Pass 5: Checking group summary information
/dev/nand2: 11/468640 files (0.0% non-contiguous), 33534/1871872 blocks
rSyncing boot fs to /dev/nand1... ...it'll take a few seconds
rsync: write failed on "/mnt/nand1/uImage-100Hz": No space left on device (28)
rsync error: error in file IO (code 11) at receiver.c(393) [receiver=3.1.1]

rSyncing root fs to /dev/nand2... ...it'll take several minutes

I don't see why the nand can get out of space. Maybe Im missing something during the process.

Hi codewarrior,

please delete or move the image files (uImage-xxxHz) from the /boot/ folder.
They are not needed and only there for experimentation purposes.
You only need the uImage file.
