Same here: using TuneBlade (the free version which has no limitations when streaming to Raspberry Airplay enabled devices) but haven't noticed any particular issue - the only small gripe I may have is that the volume level is a bit on the low side, so if you have raised the volume on the amplifier, switching back to MPD so that the original stream resume might have you jumping on the chair/sofa you're sitting on
. Other than that I have had no issues whatsoever with TuneBlade and Airplay.

I have had - so far - no issues with the Airplay switching mechanism even when having MPD playing and 'taking control' of RuneAudio with an Airplay stream - in my case, no need to pause/stop the previously played content and the switching mechanism works very well, from what I can see, resuming automatically when I kill the Airplay connection.
One thing I am looking into is an issue I'm having in getting an iOS device to actually 'see' the Airplay share - funny: it works from my Windows-based and WindowsPhone devices but not from an Apple device - go figure....
