Bubble upnp

Postby BorGreiner » 24 Sep 2015, 06:23

Does anyone use Raspberry Pi with BubbleUPnP app (with bublleupnp server setup at PC - http://www.bubblesoftapps.com/bubbleupnpserver/)?
It sounds complicated, but I found this to be the best workarround to use my Tidal account with rune audio.
When it works, it works brilliantly.
However... I am having timeout issues (BubbleUPnP app error: Action timeout) when using it and it is extremely annoying. Does anyone experience this as well? It there any solution to this?

Bubble UPNP works fine in my setup. Access to my Twonky DLNA server on the NAS to stream to RuneAudio or to stream to my hifi Streamer. So it's the phone who really does the streaming. No BubbleUPNP server in my case.
Bubble UPNP also has access to my Qobuz purchases which is really great. (and if I ever subscrive to the 10€/month tier of Qobuz, I will have access to their full catalog as well).

No issues on my side except sometimes the app on the phone dies, but it doesn't happen often. And of course, if I forgot that I lunched some playlist via streaming, walk out of wifi range with the phone in my pocket, then the music stops.

I have the following setup:

  • music-archive on my QNAP-NAS accessed via Twonky Server on the same NAS as UPnP-Server
  • BubbleUPnP-Server running on the same NAS
  • BubbleUPnP-App running on multiple Android-devices
  • RuneAudio on RaspberryPi2 as UPnP-Renderer

Everything works fine here.
I can control the playlist from several android devices and if i turn of a control-point or leave the wifi the music still plays.
A very nice feature is the access to my music-archive via internet and tethering my UPnP-Server to other networks.
I don't use Tidal or Qubuz yet, so i can nothing say to your special problem. But I use Webradio-Streaming via BubbleUPnP-App to RuneAudio with XiiaLive which runs without problems.

After finding out how to run Twonky togehter with RuneAudio on same device i just need to know how to run the BubbleUPnP-Server on my Raspberry. Then I wouldn't need the QNAP anymore!

I have found a solution for "timeout issuses" when controlin RuneAudio with BubbleUPnP server from BubbleUPnP app on Android.
You have to set BubbleUPnP server (in my case on Windows 10) to "Create an OpenHome renderer". Voila! :)

Hi, i have just put RuneAudio on my raspberry, it works well with the web radios and i can open runaudiolocal on my macbook, which was not possible with volumio (impossible to open volumiolocal on any browser). I have an account at qobuz (i'm french). I have a galaxy s5 with bubbleupnp which could see very well volumio, but doesn't see RunAudio. Any suggestions? Thanks you in advance.. i don't know how to listen to qobuz through the raspberry.
cheers,
y

Hi yael44,

is UPnP enabled on the settings page (MENU->Settings)?

TIDAL already knows about RuneAudio. I contacted them via their facebook page and they replied to me "Hi Tuomas. Thank you for sharing this. We will share it directly to our Partner Team. Best, TIDAL.".slope unblocked I guess that one of the biggest questions would be that how many would subscribe to TIDAL if it worked on Rune.

Once set up, Bubble UPNP works fine. I found that Bubble UPNP also has access to Qobuz purchases, a bit surprising but also good stickman boost
