Hi mike,

your debug data looks fine.

So it seems that you have issues with your hardware.

Hi Frank,

Thanks a million for taking your time to look into my issue. I will try to do a GPIO pintest on my pi (http://wiringpi.com) to see if my dac became a duck or my pi a puck.
Nevertheless I am amazed by the rune audio system working Out of the box and speedy/comfortable from my smartphone. I am determined to get this running as rune audio and my hifi composition deserves. Probably a better i2s dac than I purchased will do the job with longer life expectancy and less jitter.

Hi Mike

I've been using this DAC for some months now without problems. I left the MCLK line unconnected instead of connecting it to ground - I don't know if this makes any difference.

Hi all,
The DAC is working again. :P
Apparently linking the MCLK on GPIO grounding pin was not such a good idea. Before reconnecting without MCLK a fresh install of RuneAudio and I2S sound returned.
The sound was much better cause I removed the fan from the Pi. (ripple) No more clicks!!! So PLEASED with 8-) the quality sound coming from the combination.

Final connections for your ease:
from DAC to Pi B+ GPIO;
5V to pin2
PWR GND to pin6 (gnd)
BCK to pin12
MCLK removed
LRCK to pin35
GND dac to pin39
DATA to pin40

Next project: a linear power supply and casing

hey guys..

well i finally got my sd card on which i intended to install rune. which i did ofcourse.. install went fine. rather easyly i must say.
i also like the menu of rune.. been hassling with moode last couple of days. I had that installed before on a different sd and i want to keep them both just to compare at a later stage and since i had no time and no extra sd available i decided to wait.. til now.
so my setup is a RPI 2b+ with a Audiophonics I-Sabre DAC ES9023 V2 TCXO Raspberry Pi 2.0 A+ B+ / I2S.

worked out of the box with moode (last time i mention that name ;) )
but i can't seem to get to find it here... as mentioned by rico... only rpi hdmi and headphone thingy.
i expected this.. and new i had to install hifiberry drivers so i went loking on the how to and came here.

so ssh root@runeaudio.local and a few enters on the way i "dtoverlay=hifiberry-dac" the hell out of this thing but nothing happend..
just a blanc new terminal line. nothing else. so i decided to reboot and see if it magically appeared under mpd output config but nothing..

what did i do wrong? according to nico and frank this should have worked.
should i heve sudo-ed? or something?

and on top of that.. i have plugged in my 1 TB samsung evo ssd drive which is for about a 1/10 th full with .flac files.
i can see it mount (lights of the drive blinking). i actually see the message that a usb device has been mounted (or unmounted when unplugged)
but the librairy does not update (no rotating arrows) and i don't see a usb devce mounted under sources..

anyone her that is willing to help me (a rather newby) solve either of these.. rather seperate issues.. so i can start to listen instead of fiddle.

kind greatings.

Matthieu

Hi Matthieu,

so ssh root@runeaudio.local and a few enters on the way i "dtoverlay=hifiberry-dac" the hell out of this thing but nothing happend..

You have to edit the file /boot/config.txt on your sd card.

Get access to the console (ssh) and enter:
Code: Select all
nano /boot/config.txt

Or put your sd card in your pc and use your favorite editor.

Remove the # in front of "device_tree_overlay=hifiberry-dac".
Code: Select all
# Uncomment one of these lines to enable an audio interface
device_tree_overlay=hifiberry-dac
#device_tree_overlay=hifiberry-dacplus
#device_tree_overlay=hifiberry-digi
#device_tree_overlay=hifiberry-amp
#device_tree_overlay=iqaudio-dac
#device_tree_overlay=iqaudio-dacplus

After rebooting the DAC should be selectable (MENU->Mpd)

What filesystem is on your ssd?

ah that's where i could find that... sorry should've been able to locate that myself :(

and the other issue.. i'm afraid it is what you are afriad of. ntfs :D silly me.
anyway to change that without loosing the music on there as far as you know? or can i make changes to any setup file for this to accept ntfs?

thanks in advance!

at least i got some radio music for now.

FEATURES
Here is a list of some of the main features that come as standard with RuneAudio:

Easily set up and seamless playback from network drives (over CIFS and NFS protocols) and USB drives (FAT32, NTFS, HFS+)

seems to me like the drive should work.. specially as it informs me after connection that the drive is mounted. only it is not vissible in the place where mounted usb-devices should be visible.

I was afraid that it wasn't a stable connection so it would loose it's connection directly upn connection but this isn't the case as when i disconnect after not seeing the drive it says that the drive is disconnected.

so a bit more of a pickle than just ntfs file system.

Kind regards

Matthieu

Hi Matthieu,

yes NTFS should work without problems.

Pleas check if USB automount is enabled on the settings page (MENU->Settings).

I did a test with my NTFS formated 1T usb hdd and it works fine on the RP2.
Take a look at the debug data, you should find an entry like this:
fusectl /sys/fs/fuse/connections fusectl rw,relatime 0 0
/dev/sda1 /mnt/MPD/USB/SAMSUNG fuseblk rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,noatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,default_permissions,allow_other,blksize=4096 0 0
