Frank:
on your advice, I got a P2 and set it up with Rune. First off- HUGE improvement in the responsiveness. Very cool.

I followed a similar setup to what we did before, (abcde, cdrkit, eject...whatever the dependencies were) and everything loads easily.

Tagging, cover art and file names all is just fine.

Here is my config:

used your config file and the only error i get is:
Code: Select all
which: no glyrc in (/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/bin/site_perl:/usr/bin/vendor_perl:/usr/bin/core_perl)
[ERROR] abcde: glyrc is not in your path.
[INFO] Define the full path to the executable if it exists on your system.

so it looks like glyrc is all that i need? I got the package and have tried to compile but the errors i get back dont make a lot of sense-i figure i did something wrong...

any direction you could point me to solve that would be greatly appreciated.

thanks again for the suggestion to the RP2!

EDIT------>>>
So I actually started over again from scratch, new Rune install, pacman'd abcde/eject/cdparanoia/id3/cdrkit and without altering a line - the damn thing worked. In WAV format but i am working through the config...got it to ogg without error, but flac still is a PITA.

So i know im close (thanks to you felllas). I try copying Frank's config and I still get the same glyrc issues.. so I will keep trying and learning and breaking things... thanks guys

Hi justshell,

"glyrc" is needed if you like to get album cover downloaded.

You can do:
- disable album cover download by changing the configuration:
Code: Select all
GLYRC=glyrc
ACTIONS=cddb,read,getalbumart,encode,tag,move,playlist,clean

Code: Select all
#GLYRC=glyrc
ACTIONS=cddb,read,encode,tag,move,playlist,clean

- try to install glyrc
Dependencies:
    * glib >= 2.14
    *libcurl (devel and binary)
    *cmake (required)
Code: Select all
git clone https://github.com/sahib/glyr.git
cd glyr
cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr .
make && make install

I'm going to order a RP2 on that advice.

Also.
I'd like to discuss the point about playing CD's with track listing (via musicbrainz-discid) but i'm not sure if it is worth starting a new thread. It's been a many hours to get it to a barely workable solution. have you atempted this?

I've been lurking here for a little awhile and haven't pulled the trigger yet but I wanted to thank you for your efforts, and support your request to play CD's. That's exactly the funcationality I'm looking to get out of Rune as well. I'm trying to build my own headless cd player that can also play digital files from a server or locally.
