I have used three LT1963 regulators, as described here: http://cds.linear.com/docs/en/datasheet/1963fc.pdf
And you can see the rpi scheamtic here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... EDUCED.pdf

Is all you need is just the 3.3 and 1.8 supplies? What was the third one for.
What did you use for the base supply

I just want to advise that I have tried supplying 5v via GPIO pins 2 and 6, as per fboe's original suggestion, and the results were immediately apparent. There is more detail and improvements to the quality of the sound.

This has become one of those changes where I want to listen to all my music collection again because it's all sounding better.

This has to be the simplest and most cost-effective quality improvement possible! Thoroughly recommended.

Then you should try to go all the way, because when I did it, it was an much greater improvement than when just feeding the 5V on the GPIO. :D

I still wish you would provide a bit more information
You said you used three VR's what is the 3rd one for
also what was your basic DV voltage source

Hi

I'm not sure wich information you are missing. I have described that I use three different voltages, one of each. 1.8v , 3.3v and 5v. And where to connect them. And the source is comming from a linear supply at 7v. Then it's regulated to 5v and from there it's also regulated to 3.3v and 1.8v I use three regulators LT1963.

Well yes one more question
I went back and read the whole thread. You very clearly explain/show where to connect the 3.3 and the 1.8v supplies but what about the 5v supply.

Hi pelliott321,

but what about the 5v supply.

fboe wrote:I have made some ekspirement with linear power supplies for the rpi3. First I have powered it with 5v at the gpio, which gave an enormous improvement. But then I removed the "crappy" onboard regulator (for 3,3 and 1.8v) at the rpi board, and powered it direcly at pp8 and pp9. Oh my.... another enourmous improvement in sound :-)
