Wrong indication on USB Storage tab

Postby jazzaj » 16 May 2015, 21:04

Hi,

After I unplugged my USB Storage without properly unmount it, the Library tab indicates 'USB Storage (1)' instead of (0).

Not very annoying but is there a way to remove these 'ghost' entry ?

Hi jazzaj,

you have to ssh into your pi from an other PC, or connect a monitor and keyboard.
Then enter this command:
Code: Select all
 redis-cli del usbmounts

SSH is built into Linux distributions and Mac OS, and a third-party SSH client is available for Windows. See the following guides for using SSH depending on the operating system used by the computer you are connecting from:

Linux & Mac OS
Windows

Thank you Frank but it seems that doesn't work :

[root@runeaudio ~]# redis-cli del usbmounts
(integer) 0
[root@runeaudio ~]#

But I can still see 'USB Storage (2)' (now it's 2 ;) ) on Library tab.
More strange, even if my USB HD is disconnected, I can sometimes 'see' it and browse its folders, files via the USB Storage tab.

Hi jazzaj,

But I can still see 'USB Storage (2)' (now it's 2 ;) ) on Library tab.

Mpd generates a folder under /mnt/MPD/USB for each device.
So please disconnect your storage and use these commands:
- ls /mnt/MPD/USB
See if there are subfolders, if so:
- rm -r /mnt/MPD/USB/*
- mpc update

From here do not disconnect your storage then the pi is not powerd.
Use remove / delete from the sources tab.

More strange, even if my USB HD is disconnected, I can sometimes 'see' it and browse its folders, files via the USB Storage tab.

This is not strange, it is the normal behavior if you do not update the mpd library.
If unmount your usb media via RuneAudio this is done automatically for you.

OK, everything 'works' now.

In fact, this last days I had some problems with my USB HD that connected, disconnected, connected, ... all the time. Now I have to connect it via an USB powered HUB to get it work. However, I've never had problems since I began with runeaudio and my regulated PSU (5.0~5.1V). Anyway, I must buy a NAS soon.

thank you Franck for answers.
