I am so close to getting my PI and wolfson card to work. I have followed everything included in this post. I have added the scripts to a folder called root/use_case_scripts. I believe all I need to do is execute the script to make the lineout work, but the message I get is that Permission is Denied.

[root@runeaudio use_case_scripts]# ./Playback_to_Lineout.sh
-bash: ./Playback_to_Lineout.sh: Permission denied

or this
[root@runeaudio use_case_scripts]# sudo ./Playback_to_Lineout.sh
-bash: sudo: command not found

I am sure it is something simple but I am a NOOB (duh) and can't figure it out.

Thanks for the help. I was pursuing Volumio but I have made it much much further here. Many thanks for all the awesome work.

All that's missing is permissions to run that Playback_to_Lineout.sh file.

Try this:

chmod 777 Playback_to_Lineout.sh

then type

./Playback_to_Lineout.sh

again.

You should see a bunch of text scroll by, and then all that lovely sound should be ready :)

Wow. Thanks so much. I can't wait to get off work and have a try. Is it necessary to setup the cron job described by johnbanks a few posts up. From what I understand the lineout setting should be remembered by the PI on reboot, but I wasn't sure. Thanks again.

Enjoy!

Definitely use the johnbanks cron job method, it means you won't have to worry about the settings after a reboot / power-cut.

Also, just in case, don't forget to change settings in the RuneAudio UI: MENU > MPD > 'Audio Output Interface' to 'snd_rpi_wsp'

All the best with it!

I am new to Rune Audio, but am very impressed. I am writing here to say thank you for this information. After spending 3 hours trying to figure out why I was not getting any sound I found this thread and everything works beautifully now. Next I need to set up the CRON job so everything works when rebooted.

Will these scripts be included in future builds?

Thank you again.

Yes, they will, probably from the next 0.4.

Hello

I am using Raspberry B and Wolfson DAC. I can hear slight pops when music is started. Is it normal and other users hear this as well? I tried all possible distro's that support Wolfson (element14 provided distro, Volumio, Runeaudio, OpenElec), the result is the same.

I am out of ideas, so any thought is much appreciated.

Hello

Short update: I managed to compile new Cirrus Logic 3.18 kernel with Wolfson DAC support:
-> Good news: no pops when music starts!
-> Good news: I have 3.18 kernel which is compatible with B, B+ and B2
-> Bad news: rare pops are present when you stop playing

After tracking these pops these are my findings so far:
-> It is MPD related as I get them only from MPD (bad news for Volumio and Runeaudio)
-> It is codec related as pops for MP3 are more noticeable and happen more frequently

With the following MPD configuration pops happen rarely so they are tolerable, however I keep seeking for perfection ;)

decoder {
plugin "mad"
enabled "no"
}
decoder {
plugin "ffmpeg"
enabled "yes"
}
decoder {
plugin "mpg123"
enabled "no"
}

Hi everybody,

I'm new with runeaudio, I have a raspberry B config with wolfson card...
All is OK with runeaudio UI and NAS attachment but...
It doesnt work, perhaps with a bad Wolfson parameter ? (I'm not confortable with which parameters are the good ones for the card)
Here is my config below,
Thanks in advance !!! :D

Problems: Wolfson Audio Card patch for RuneAudio

Postby runaway » 15 Apr 2015, 15:26

Hello to all, and thanks for all the hard work to get the PI/Wolfson combination to work.
I have a Problem that might be related to me being a Linux-newbie.

I cannot execute the shell-command to make the wolfson play to the lineout: ./root/use_case_scripts/Playback_to_Lineout.sh results in "No such file or directorie". I tried without the point, without /root/, and all combinations. Unfortunately I could not download the manual for the use of the scripts :-(

Here is what I did:
-Install Rune 0.3-beta
-on Windows copied the folder /root/use_case_scripts/ with all the files to root on card
-putty to runeaudio
-type in "/root/use_case_scripts/Playback_to_Lineout.sh" or "./root/use_case_scripts/Playback_to_Lineout.sh" or "sudo /root/use_case_scripts/Playback_to_Lineout.sh" or "sudo ./root/use_case_scripts/Playback_to_Lineout.sh", all resulting in "No such file or directory".
-tried "cd /root/" -> nothing happens
-tried "cd /root/use_case_scripts/"-> Error "No such file or directory".
-tried "cd /use_case_scripts/"-> Error "No such file or directory".

I hope this is not a stupid question, but could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

And, a second question: If I get this to work, Do I have to do it again, every time I rebbot? Do I need to create a cronjob fo that?

Thanks again, Stefan
