Wireless

Postby anadigi » 18 Aug 2014, 19:48

I have the raspberry pi B+ with 1.3alpha. Everything seems fine until I have the wireless dongle installed.
I can only use wireless while i have wire connected. If I unplug the wired network cable, then the wireless will not work!
If I am using the tablet with the MPDroid cannected, the web UIi will not work neither.

there are many posts around if you look....for me, I had to down the interface and then use netctl to enable it and make it work to get it into wifi only.

files for netctl are in /etc/netctl/
you need one for wlan0 in there

the general commands are:
ifconfig wlan0 down
netctl enable wlan0
netctl start wlan0

Thanks for your help!
Do I have to do it again if I restart the Rune?

Thanks again.
I believe there is something difference with raspyfi as I have the raspberry pi version B with raspyfi and the same TP-Link N725 version 1.
I can play with either wireless or wired with no problem.
With this Rune, I cannot use Wifi only. Even I can connect with wifi only, it is dead slow and impossible to use it.

Which I don't understand is I have to plugin both wired and wireless to play normal. Wired only is fine though!

you need to be plugged in so you can get the wifi working. once working, you can use it unplugged and only on wifi

just takes some effort

You should need wired ethernet connection only the first time to configure your wlan card. After that, once connected to wi-fi, you should be able to unplug the wire and connect to your device using the wlan IP address.

That is why I post this problem. May be something different with Raspberry B+. As I have mentioned before, I have no problem with the Raspyberry Pi Version B with Raspyfi which I still using.
Hope someone will post the New Raspberry B+ experiment.

What I mean is with wired plugin, the wifi is working with no problem.
