white noise and disturbance

Postby sepo » 16 Aug 2014, 16:57

hello there,

I have a raspberry pi and dac king rex ud-01, I connect it with a USB self-powered ub.

Sometimes I hear the sound bug, and there is a white noise very loud. Then the music begins again but with lots of disturbance, I have to wait a while and change tracks for the sound again become correct. This often happens when I change songs. This is not very stable for me.
Anyone have an idea?
Thank you for the help

Well without digging too deep, right off the top it looks like your are not running the 0.3 version, so I would maybe start there. From the web page it looks like that DAC does 16/44 and 16/48. Generally I dont think 16/44 is a problem, but as you move up thats whenthe noise starts kicking in more and more.

Maybe look at the link for the Schiit MODI DAC and try that, is a suggestion.

I guess before doing that you can try and use this in the section for the dac in mpd.conf and restarting mpd...

auto_resample "no"
auto_format "no"

thats the correct spot and was worth a try....I assume you restarted mod or rebooted for it to take effect. Try some of the other suggestions....cant hurt.

It took me about 16 hours of screwing around to get things working properly :)
