with control volume in place with Hifiberry dac+ the sound of HiRes (24b 192kHz) has clicks and pause.

Please check if the HiFiBerry DAC+ is the only active output with the mpc outputs command. The behaviour you describe could happen because the Rpi analog output is still enabled and resampling occurs, generating high load on the system.

Thanks ACX,
It works again :D
Maybe it depends of the order I enter the command lines ?

It's something that we want to review for the next 0.4 release.

Just a question. Since the DAC and DAC+ use the same chip, just different pins, shouldn't there also be a similar edit for the DAC? something like this or has this been fixed. I ask as I still do not have digital volume on my HifiBerryDAC.

Hi gearhead,

the HifiBerryDAC has no hardware volume control.

From HiFiBerry Website:
Q: Does it have a volume control?
A: Our new HiFiBerry DAC+ board comes with an integrated volume control. However the older HiFIBerry DAC uses the digital data without any post-processing. It will output the sound stream with the volume the application feeds it. Many applications can use an internal volume control (so called software volume control). If the application you want to use does not have a software volume control, you can’t control the volume by software. However the best way to control the software is a analog volume control after the DAC. While software volume control is an option, it will reduce signal-to-noise ratio. If you connect the DAC to your amplifier, you should use the volume control of your amplifier.

The PCM5102A as used in the DAC is a line level output only.

The PCM5122 as used in the HiFiBerry DAC+ and IQaudIO DAC and DAC+ has a variable "hardware volume" control.

Does this fix work for HiFiBerry Dac (not the + version?) I tried the fix but when I write the "refresh_ao" command I get an answer like LOCKED! and the volume knob is stuck to 100%

thanks

For the last time: the HiFiBerry DAC (not the + version) does NOT have the hardware volume... :)
