Hi, finally I did attempt to use the regular plug psu to feed the GPIOs.
Now, I have a Hifiberry DAC+ on top of them, so I released it, pluged on the wires and re-installed the DAC ontop.
First, power was on but Rune was not loading. Rebooted, this time Rune came up. I then started a play, but after a few seconds the playback stopped.

I removed this for now, but is it related to having the DAC on the GPIOs ?

Try to connect the power directly to the P3 on the dac - that will also feed the rpi.

Do you use external usb audio interface or internal ?

Where is that? on the Hifiberry?

What do you mean? the DAC is not conneted via usb

Hello, do I have the onboard regulator removed? or is it enough to connect the power to PP9, PP7, PP5, PP8?

I did something similar. Removed the regulator and 2 inductors. Almost impossible to desolder so i ripped them with a plier. The thing is so small that i ripped c4 in the process as well so i attached another cap instead of about the same size. After that i connected the 3 voltages at L1, L2 and D5. Now about the sound. I believe it needs some burn in time. After a few hrs, the soundstage is deeper, i can hear some more details on the strings, like the fine treble and something on the background that was not there. These are the +. Now the -. The low freq are a bit booming. Hope the effect will go with burn in.
