Hi everyone,

I've been using the Rune Audio Remote Control app for the last couple of months to control my Raspberry Pi 3 (with HiFiBerry Digi+) perfectly via wireless connection to my home network. I absolutely LOVE the app!

But for some reason, starting about a week ago, I could no longer get the app to load on my Android. It just goes to a blank white screen; or to a blank black screen. It's as if the app locks up before it displays the controls.

I can still control the Raspberry Pi 3 via RuneUI with a laptop, so I believe that everything is good with the Raspberry Pi.

I've exhausted my troubleshooting capabilities by restarting my android many times; and uninstalling the Rune Audio Remote Control app and reinstalling. No luck, and I'm really missing the Android remote control app.

Here is the version of Rune that is loaded on my Raspberry Pi: RuneAudio_rpi2_rp3_0.4-beta_20160321_2GB (1).img.gz

Any suggestions about how to proceed with troubleshooting?

clear your app cache or even the cache of your phone from within the recovery mode

I am having this same issue on my Nvidia Shield K1. Clearing the app cache doesn't help. The thing is I don't have this issue on my Asus TF201.

If I swap from landscape to portrait and back a few times on my K1 it will eventually start working. I think maybe the ui is not showing up (refreshing) correctly on the smaller screen of my K1.

The problem might be related with the latest update of the Android System Webview, which landed just one week ago. That system app is used by the Android Remote Control to embed the UI in fullscreen. We are investigating on it to solve the issue.

Yes indeed, this update came last week I think. And since that I got problems with the remote.

Edit: yes it's the newest update from Android system webview. I deinstalled the latest update and it runs fine again!

Thanks everyone. So, how do you de-install Android system updates? I'm on version 6.0.1.

Hi Erick,

Search for "Android system webview" in apps and try to de-install updates. No need to de-install your Android 6.01.

Thanks Steffen. Ok, I was able to remove the updates for WebView, and confirmed that the Rune Android Remote control app now works.
