Shutdown and restart

Postby pelliott321 » 02 Sep 2016, 20:42

I have RPi3 with latest version of RUNE
I just recently put this together and have been using with great fun and pleasure
But I have left RPi on and have had a power failure. The only way to get back running is to burn a new chip an reconfigure.
I have tried shut down but do not know to restart. I tried removing power and replacing and the system did not boot up. so I have to burn another chip and reconfigure.
So I am asking what is the proper shutdown and start up procedure

Hi pelliott321,

welcome to RuneAudio.

But I have left RPi on and have had a power failure. The only way to get back running is to burn a new chip an reconfigure.

This is a common issue with devices like the Raspberry Pi.

I have tried shut down but do not know to restart. I tried removing power and replacing and the system did not boot up.

This is the correct way.
- shut down your Pi via user interface (MENU->Turn off
- wait until the green light stops flashing
- now you can remove power
To restart the system you only have to plug in power.

The next image (version) will be available as a read only version.
This will prevent sd card corruption on power failure.

Or you can use something like this, but you have to modify RuneAudio to get it working.

What is the status of the build that will give a read only version of Rune? Any realease date?

Thanks so much for a great product!

I sent you this question in a separate message, Frank, but what modifications need to be made to RuneAudio to get the Audiophonics (France) Power Module to work correctly with the Shut Down menu ???

I tried using a standard image of RuneAudio on my Audiophonics RaspTouch. When I chose Shut Down on the menu, I got a Reboot instead of a Shut Down.

The Audiophonics image works properly, but not the standard image. What needs to be done ???

You need to install the code that handles the shutdown via the Audiophonics switch. See their tutorial: http://forum.audiophonics.fr/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1620&sid=619fd50c689d22e5f93b906a16961c81 (in French..)

Thank you for the link to the Audiophonics forum. I did not know that it was there. I am really only trying to make a back-up copy of the MicroSD card that I bought from Audiophonics. I am happy with the way my RaspTouch is working, I just want a back-up MicroSD card in case of emergency.

My French is not too good. I also don't want to try to be a code monkey.

If I can't figure this out, I would like to buy another copy of the MicroSD card for my version of the RaspTouch. I cannot find this listed on their web site. If you know where this can be ordered, please let me know.

My next thought is to copy my existing card using HDD Raw Copy Tool. I hope that this program will copy from the front of the card to the back without fretting over slight differences in the byte capacity of the two cards. I will try tomorrow and post my results.

Hi K5DBB,

have you tried this image?
Should be the same as the one shipped with your Rasptouch.

No, but I would love to!

However, I cannot understand your link: mega:///#!8dplBCxD!2xdMBRvzqzj_hWMKEMPzh8ZUJsbtZT73EdXeDdFK-DE

Is there a standard URL that you could post for this ???

I searched the Audiophonics web site for a replacement RaspTouch card, but could not find one for sale.
