RuneAudio not reacting after DAC shutdown

Hi Stefan,

So far I cannot duplicate this behavior. I left my dac connected, and turned off for an hour once, and about 1 hr 15 minutes a second time.

On the other hand, some of the things I can repeat every time, other people do not have at all, so perhaps this is not so unique.

I will try again this weekend. It is an easy test, basically I just have to turn the dac off and leave the Pi on.

Hi Pete,

first let me thank you for your efforts, even if you weren't able to reproduce the malfunction. I really hope we can solve this issue, as I really (!) like RuneAudio as a playback device!

Is there any debug information I can retrieve via SSH that might help you narrowing down the problem? I would need precise instructions though, as I'm not a Linux expert.

Thanks,
Stefan

You can check if necessary services are up and running:
Code: Select all
systemctl status mpd

Code: Select all
systemctl status rune_SY_wrk

Also take a look at the journal for errors:
Code: Select all
journalctl

Hi Frank,

As requested, I did some more investigation.

  • After powered down and up the amplifier/DAC, the system is "dysfunctional" as before.
  • Both MPD and rune_SY_wrk are "up and running" asscording to systemctl.
  • While the web interface is not responding, I still don't get a timeout. The page just seems to be loading
  • After approx. 15 minutes (!), the web interface responds again, and I can use RuneAudio as if nothing happened.

With journalctl, I don't see any error messages. When I shut down my amplifier, I get this message:

Code: Select all
Jun 03 17:36:09 runeaudio kernel: usb 1-1.5: USB disconnect, device number 4

As soon as I power it up, this message appears:

Code: Select all
Jun 03 22:01:53 runeaudio kernel: usb 1-1.5: new high-speed USB device number 5 using dwc_otg
Jun 03 22:01:53 runeaudio kernel: usb 1-1.5: New USB device found, idVendor=08e4, idProduct=01bd

Thanks,

Hi Stefan,

this is very strange.

Please also check these services:
- rune_PL_wrk
- php-fpm
- nginx

Stefan,

just for the record, I cannot duplicate this. I tried again, and I can make a crash happen, where the Pi is not responsive at all, but not the behavior you are seeing, sorry. In any case this is in better hands with Frank, ;)

I've tried the additional services, but they also appear to be up and running while RuneAudio itself isn't responding. Well, "kind of not responding", as I figured out by now, as 10-15 minutes after my initial request everything works fine again, without a restart.

Might this something have to do with the additional HID device which seems to be part of my amp's DAC (see the log from previous post)?

Hello, I am new to RuneAudio and generally very much taken with it. However, I experience the same problem described in this thread. I run RuneAudio on a Raspberry Pi 3 with a Pioneer A-70 Amp/USB-DAC. Whenever I shut down and power-on the Amp or switch input sources RuneAudio malfunctions. The only workaround for this is to restart the RPi3 once the DAC is active, it seems. Is there any solution to this by now?
