rPi runeaudio 0.2beta does not recognized m4a

Postby bigeyes0x0 » 28 Jan 2014, 05:39

Hi there,

As the title said, I couldn't load any m4a files created with nero AAC on runeaudio 0.2 beta with my raspberry, my mp3 and vorbis work fine. Any idea?

OT: other than the problem above, this is the most audio glitch free experience I have had with my rPi. You guys did a runetastic job. My own raspbian build with mpd couldn't work as well.

EDIT: So looking at the log myself, enabling ffmpeg decoder fixed the problem. Any reason you keep it off?

Re: rPi runeaudio 0.2beta does not recognized m4a

Postby ACX » 30 Jan 2014, 21:32

Hi bigeyes0x0, we left ffmpeg decoder disabled by default because we experimented problems with the database update (in some situations it couldn't be completed successfully).
We are going to add the option to manually activate it from the next 0.3 release.

I'm happy RuneAudio works great for you :) We aim to introduce further improvements as the time goes by.

Thanks for your answer. After I posted here I actually tried out latest arch linux for the Pi and it works nearly as well as rune so I guess most of the optimizations were actually upstream. I've just ordered the odroid-u3 http://www.hardkernel.com/main/products ... 8733896281 , if you want to port runeaudio to this platform, I can help you out :D.

Hi bigeyes0x0,
you are welcome! After v0.3 release, we will public a sort of "cookbook" for building our distro from scratch.

This device really has a fast processor. Could you measure power consumption when it arrives?

That's cool. I have already got this board and is using it with vanilla arch linux mpd, lighttpd for cover and everything is working nicely. Just wish that I could port the whole runeUI over. That would be cool.

Well unfortunately I don't have the tool. Anyway I'm running it off a 5V2A adapter with a WD Elements 2.5" external HD attached. Saved around 20kW last month using it to play music and download stuffs instead of my desktop.
