Problems with 24/192 FLAC files

Postby ianhaynes » 09 Oct 2015, 16:24

Having recently started to digitise some of my vinyl collection to 24/192 FLAC files, I've noticed periodic warbling distortion on playing the files, always part way into a track, never at the beginning. If I go back and replay the tracks they play perfectly. I did convert a couple of LPs when I originally started experimenting with the Pi/Rune system and didn't notice such distortion then.

CD's converted to 16/44 files play perfectly.

The files are coming off a NAS drive via a hard wired ethernet connection, although this is via a TP-Link AV500 powerline adapter. I guess this could be the cause of the problem. I've tried increasing the audio buffer size from 2048 to 3072 with no improvement.

Is there anything else I can try to solve this problem?

Using a Pi 2, with IQAudioDac.

If you listen through headphones (i.e. analogue output) does the problem persist? I am experiencing similar, but more serious, playback issues using a Digi+ output board when playing 24/192 FLAC files. Playback is fine (though low quality) when I listen on headphones. This suggests that the Digi+ board driver might be to blame.
