Meridian Explorer volume

Postby giovilux » 05 Sep 2017, 21:23

Hallo,

just started using rune audio and I's really fantastic. Stable and fast response with big music libraries. Great sound quality.

I have connected my Meridian Explorer to the USB port of the raspberry pi 3 but the hardware volume control is not working.
The output volume is very low (a bit annoying but can be solved changing the input sensibility of the pre-amplifier) and doesn't change using the knob in the web UI.
The volume hardware control was working fine with Volumio.

Any idea?
here is the debug information: https://pastebin.com/PVyUKjQw

Thanks
Giovanni

login as root and run the alsamixer command. crank up the volume and save.....make sure to turn your volume on the Meridian down to start, wouldnt want to blow your speakers. generally alsamixer is the solution....GL

The volume knob doesn't work anymore.
I have to use alsamixer from the terminal. Not really convenient.
Shouldn't the knob be connected to alsamixer?

thanks

It is not, but you can get to the alsamixer through the web ui as well.... http://your_rune_ip:8080 brings up the alsamixer in the browser

Hi giovanni,

The volume knob doesn't work anymore.

This is because your DAC is not in our database.

You can try this:
Code: Select all
redis-cli hset acards_details 'Meridian Explorer USB DAC' "{\"sysname\":\"Meridian Explorer USB DAC\",\"extlabel\":\"Meridian Explorer USB DAC\",\"mixer_numid\":\"1\",\"mixer_control\":\"Meridian Clock Selector\",\"hwplatformid\":\"02\",\"type\":\"USB\"}"

Code: Select all
/srv/http/command/refresh_ao

I am not sure if the naming is correct.

Also understand that when you use the "software" volume, you are not bit perfect anymore.....Only passing the signal as-is to your DAC keeps the music bit perfect.....if that matters to you.
