Tidal Hi-Fi via RPi3 - Now Even Better Using NAS

Postby Discovery » 27 Jan 2017, 21:10

Just passing on a recommendation...

I've been streaming Tidal Hi-Fi to my RPi3 for some time using BubbleUPnP. BubbleUPnP is a cheap Android app, typically running on a mobile phone or tablet. It works well and gives you full access to your music on Tidal.

Following a recent recommendation by Rune Frost, I installed BubbleUPnP Server on my Synology NAS and created an Open Home Renderer for RuneAudio. This is also controlled from the BubbleUPnP app. Rune Frost advised that it sounds better, and also allows simple access to my FLAC files on my NAS.

I have to agree - the sound is noticeably smoother and refined, taming a small amount of excessive brightness that existed before. Finally, please don't ask why it is better - I have no explanation but my ears are happy! :-)
