Not finding WiFi Networks

Postby Mike-48 » 31 Mar 2017, 00:07

I am trying Rune (0.4) on the RPi3 + HiFiBerry DAC. I have it working via Ethernet but want to get WiFi working. The Network setup screen detects both of my WiFi interfaces, but when scanning only occasionally finds the available networks. Any suggestions?

I know it sounds weird, but I had the same problem that was resolved when I changed routers

It didn't used to work for an older Linksys router, but it did for a newer TPLink Archer C9

Thanks, wookie. Not the router; it's new & fancy. I did get R. to recognize wifi by shutting off internal wifi and using a dongle. But then I still couldn't get the thing to work without an ethernet cable. Go figure. I'm going to try some other music player.

Hi Mike-48,

The Network setup screen detects both of my WiFi interfaces, but when scanning only occasionally finds the available networks.

the internal wifi (RP3) isn't the best at all.
For me it works only reliable with a very strong wifi signal (short distances).
You can try to use a usb wifi dongle.
Before doing that you should disable the onboard wifi first.

Thanks, Frank. I do have a dongle available. After I couldn't get Rune to work with it, I tried Volumio. That was successful -- Volumio disabled the internal wifi automatically and is working fine, so far, with the dongle.
