NO wifi networks listing when using Ralink RT5370

Postby dec05 » 30 Sep 2016, 00:47

Hi,

I am having an issue (i.e. keep spinning but no list) of not being able to detect wifi networks when using this wifi dongle (i.e. Ralink RT5370, wlan1) with rp3 in RuneAudio (RuneAudio_rpi2_rp3_0.4-beta_20160321_2GB.img). 2.5 A power supply. wlan0 with onboard wireless LAN has no problem of listing wifi networks when NO dongle is attached to the rp3.

Please help to suggest what the solution may be?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi ,

welcome to Rune Audio.

Your Ralink RT5370 should work on RuneAudio (RP2/3).

Please try to disable the internal wifi by modifying
/etc/modprobe.d/disable_rpi3_wifi_bt.conf
Code: Select all
##wifi
blacklist brcmfmac
blacklist brcmutil
##bt
#blacklist btbcm
#blacklist hci_uart

After this disable the wlan1 service
Code: Select all
systemctl disable netctl-auto@wlan1

and reboot.

Also check the debug output and journalctl for errors.

Thanks you so much for your help Frank! My first time using RP3 and RuneAudio. Your instructions were great. I found the performance from RuneAudio android app was so much better with the wifi dongle. In my case, Hifiberry dac is also used with pi3 and all are in steel case, so I guess external wifi dongle helps.

Just wondering if the future RuneAudio production release will no longer need the workaround if wifi dongle is used please?
