Network amount - Remote directory for a router usb hdd

Postby Scabroso » 15 Oct 2016, 12:29

Hi all,

I have been trying to mount a source which is an external USB HDD attached to a wireless router Asus RT-N18U-A904.

I've tried every which way to find the right remote directory in the Runeaudio netrwork mounting page with no luck.

The details on the page are:
Fileshare protocol: SMB/CIFS
IP Address: 192.168.1.1
Remote Directory: (?)

I find on the PC's network the HDDs, for example the other's address is: Rt-n18u-a904/varalevy/Musiikki, but that does not work for the Remote Directory on Runeaudio.

I have also succesfully ripped my cds to the same folder with dBpoweramp where the path is: //Rt-n18u-a904/varalevy/Musiikki

Where am I going wrong? I've tried big and small letters with guess access on/off etc.

On Asus' control page I can see the directory tree to my music files as follows:

RT-N18U-A904/TOSHIBA DT01ACA200/VARALEVY/Musiikki

I have tried that too, but Runeaudio does not find the HDD.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi Scabroso,

welcome to RuneAudio.

Please try:
The details on the page are:
Fileshare protocol: SMB/CIFS
IP Address: 192.168.1.1
Remote Directory: varalevy/Musiikki

Also check if you need a username and password.

This is how it is on an Asus RT-AC66U that I used to use.

BTW, I am curious if you will have the same issue I had with the ASUS. It would always loose the connection to the drive after an hour or so of playing music or video. I recently moved the drives to a TP-LINK C2600 and am no longer having the issue. Could never solve it on the ASUS using Merlin or stock firmware and many people besides me had the same issues regardless of drive brand/model.

Hi again and thanks for the kind help and apologies for the very delayd response. I tried to do as per your suggestions, but to no avail. Would you have any other advises on this? In the meantime I already partially gave up and just attached a USB cased HDD which seems to be working quite alright. I'm still though possessing with the NAS possibility of the the router...

Wow, I changed the Asus to act as an access point instead of a router, changed the IP-address in the Runeaudio to the Asus' AP-ip and now the NAS-library is updating!
