Suggestions/requests/ideas for RuneAudio core features and functions

Hey,

I had a thought. What about running netjack as a device and then having another jack client on a rPi in another room?

Alternatively, shairport as an output device and then another rune installation recieving it.

I can imagine having one server and a couple of clients all controlled simply by the device outputs configured in the .asoundrc file. The advantage to this is that it would suit other mpd clients that are able to control the sound device output.

Hi mashman,
we prefer the netjack route. I've also had your same idea. This is the reason why this line is there almost from day 1 of RuneAudio.
Think about MPD as a sort fo "Hydra" where the body is the Master player and the heads are the client players controlled by the Master.
I think that Jack is the way. A very powerful stack built for professional. The only thing that is missing here at the moment, is the time to develop this solution. Do you want to contribute to this task? You'd be welcome.

Ciao.

So, I would love this functionality as it has been discussed. I don't have any coding skills nor am i familiar with Jack enough to get it to work. However, if you have a bounty program, I would be happy to contribute.

Thanks and I love Rune Audio!

Hi g33kdad,

what is the feature you like to have? Multiroom?

I'm also interested in this and trying to use snapcast for it.
See also here.

Features i would like:
- multiple RuneAudio devices
- each one can act as standalone player
- one is also a master device
- you can switch all others to slave mode
- they will reflect the status from master device
- they can be used to control the master device
- each one can control only its own volume

- no idea about multizone yet
