Missed all the non-english folder/files

Postby syklab » 02 Mar 2014, 10:45

Hi,
Able to install v0.2 on the BBB and making music, just ran into one problem when updating MPD database, database is pointing to a Synology 214play NAS, connection is via SMB/CIFS. I use the browse function to list out all the music folder from my NAS, everything with non english character file name and folder name were disappeared. I went into the advance option under Database and try to change the charset but only ISO 8859-1 is available, does it support any character set other than english ? How can I fix this?

Thanks

Hi skylab, it's because of the missing UTF-8 support for SMB/CIFS in the BBB kernel, we are going to solve it in the next version. In the meanwhile I suggest you to use NFS protocol (it should perform better too).

Just switched to use NFS and seems to be working, will the next release include driver for I2S output?

Thanks

I hope so, we are working on that.

Rune is a very good player, I'm longing for your update to tackle the missing non-english folders/ files. :D

Besides, as you mentioned above, using NFS can solve the missing non-english folders/files problem, however, i found that rune can't connect my Synology NAS via NFS but my other computer devices can.

Can you tell me why??

Thanks

Hi will, I currently use a Synology DS214 to host my music library and it works flawlessly via NFS. How are you trying to mount it?

Hi ACX, I'm using DS 212, I can connect the NAS using SMB without any problem.

However, under the web UI MEUN -> Database, when I use the same setting (source name & ip address) but using NFS, the message "Last system mount error mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting 10.0.X.X:/music/RaspyFi/" shown.

I already removed the SMB mounting before set up the new NFS setting as per the advise in this post earlier, but still not working.

Am I missing something?

Thanks

Try with volume1/music/RaspyFi as Remote directory.
Did you give NFS permissions to your device's IP address?
