I was able to SSH into the RPi for an lsusb. This is what I get:

Finally, here is what may be some useful information. It is the end of a fresh debug ofter I removed and reinserted the USB cable from the DAC a couple of times. It is clearly communicating, but seems to be getting specific parameter failures.

Use SSH from your PC
    If you are not familiar with SSH read this for Windows or this for Linux/MacOS
    The default login for RuneAudio is "root" with the password "rune" (without quotes).
Or use WinSCP to acces the filesystem on your device. It is highly recommended to use Notepad++ for editing files.

Nothing to worry about, this is because there is no special kernel for the RP3 available at the moment.

OK. I now have the same problem that Victor has. In USB 1.0 mode, I can now select the DAC in Runeaudio, but the DAC does not think it is locked. As Victor said, on the front of the DAC, there is an LED that flashes until the DAC gets a lock on an input source (USB, COAX, or Optical), then goes solid when int has the lock. In USB 2.0 mode the DAC indicated a lock but Rune did not register the device. In USB 1.0 mode the converse happens: Rune registers the device, but the DAC does not get a lock.

Note my debug now matches Victor's:

Based on some other advice, I unplugged the DAC, issued a dmesg -C, plugged the DAC back in, and issued a dmesg. Here are the results. It strikes me that when the last events is "cannot get min/max values for control 2 (id 10)" that this must be part of the problem. I wonder if the DAC is a bit non-compliant on something?
