I just downloaded Raspberry Pi 3(model B) version today and ran the standard update. the problem I ran into was when I attempted to install java. I was unable to reach the arch linux mirror to run 'pacman -S jre8-openjdk-headless'. I had to resync pacman by using 'pacman -Syu'. I did not have that issue under a different build (Raspberry Pi (model A/A+/B/B+)).

is this a problem for other things or did I just open up a can of worms on this build? ultimately I want to have the box host both rune and subsonic so I'm documenting the process and issues

Hi tsawyer,

I had to resync pacman by using 'pacman -Syu'.

RuneAudio is based on ArchLinux with many modified packages.
Upgrading the arch way will most likely break the system.

ok, that's fine. I would like to know how to install java as I posted. it seems like I can not point to a correct repository

The problem has always been the servers mirror list.
Only 1 main server that was enabled in /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist somehow not working
