Is there a possibility to activate bluetooth on Pi 3

Postby Bergfex » 16 Jul 2016, 07:26

Hello.

Can I ask a question please. Is there a possibility to activate bluetooth on the raspberry pi 3? I made a simple retro-radio (Telefunke bajazzo => have used the old speaker and the hifiberry amp) and it works. But I also want to connect it with my soundbar via bluetooth. Is this possible?

Thanks a lot.

Hi mrcrowley,

same answer as in the other thread.
No it is not dead and bluetooth is not on top of our roadmap.

If someone likes to implement this, no problem, Rune is open source.
Tell us how it is done and we will implement it.

Sure this is a late reaction. But maybe this link is interesting for the developers.

Hi all,

the question is:
What is your goal? Sending audio (A2DP) or use it as WiFi replacement?

To get bluetooth up and running isn't a problem at all.
Sending audio (A2DP) is an other thing.
Rune Audio uses ALSA for its audio functionality and as far as i know
only PulseAudio supports bluetooth audio the easy way.

Hi Frank.

I am only an user. For me bluetooth would be fine because I have a Dali Zensor 1 AX (active speaker). I have built a Telefunken Transistor radio where a Rasperry pi 3 is placed in (Sure RuneAudio is the Software :) ). The original speaker (very small Transistor-radio speaker) runs with a Hifiberry. But the Dali Zensor 1 AX has bluetooth. So if I could switch between original speaker and bluetooth I could send the signal to the Dali speakers. That was the idea. If it is necessary is another discussion.

You have asked in a post above to tell you how to implement it. Unfortunately I am not a Linux - specialist (only an user of Mint Linux) and cannot help you actively. But I have found the link above. And I thought it could be useful for you to get this information, because there was someone who has already tried to implement it. In any case there is no harm to inform you about this link ;) .

I got bluetooth up and running before but came crashing down when i couldnt hear audio!! I connected it to my bluetooth device and it beeped etc confirming it was connected but as soon as i played a song, no audio.

Was something to do with audio output, needed to change it to bluetooth or something to that effect but no help around to make it possible sadly.

As Frank said, The sending audio part is the hard/awkward part xD

Hi all,

if someone has the knowledge and time to try:
https://github.com/Arkq/bluez-alsa
looks promising for us.
