Help me to install driver wifi USB chip RTL8192EU

Postby luamiennam » 27 May 2017, 07:13

I have wifi usb using rtl8192eu controller chip. I use the command "lsusb" Runeaudio has identified the code:
"Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0bda: 818b Realtek Semiconductor Corp."

I searched and found the driver for this chip as .deb file
Link: https://sites.google.com/site/easylinux ... 0bda:818b-

I also found a way to install the driver for this rtl8192eu chip for linux, but for Runeaudio it was not.
Https://askubuntu.com/questions/738911/ ... tu-14-04-4

I do not know how to install this driver for Pi3 running Runeaudio. Who has ever successfully installed help guide me.

Sorry, my english is not good. (I used google translate)

There is a set of drivers in the Arch repository (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/rtl8192eu/), but installation may not be the easiest of tasks.

It may be better to look at another wifi dongle; I've used a few of these with success:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dual-Band-300Mbps-WiFi-5G-5GHz-2-4GHz-USB-Wireless-Network-Card-LAN-Dongle-PC-/271928946887?hash=item3f503a70c7

The Ralink RT5572N chipset is plug and play on Rune, Moode, Volumio, DietPi and PiCorePlayer...

Hello luamiennam,

There seem to be issues with the standard driver on AUR, it was flagged out-of-date on 14-06-2017.
You could try the instructions in this post: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=217873. See the reply from meismarv, this is the interesting bit:
Code: Select all
git clone https://github.com/Mange/rtl8192eu-linux-driver.git
make
make install
smodprobe 8192eu
You may need to install dkms to make it work. Try without first. The command to install it should be somthing like this (not 100% sure of the format, maybe someone can correct me):
Code: Select all
pacman -Sy --force dkms --noconfirm
Most WiFi drivers have a configuration file which is used to set up the configurable options. But I am not sure of the location or content for the RTL8192EU.

You may break Rune by modifying the kernel in this way, make a backup/copy first!
