SOLV Failed boot whit official 7" display and HifiBerry Digi

Postby gabcosse » 14 Jan 2017, 11:14

Hello guys, ill explain you my problem:

Rpi3 whit latest Runeaudio relase
Official 7" display
Hifiberry Digi

if everything is connected when i gave power the screen will get the rainbow square for like a looooot of time.
if i disconnect the hifiberry the sistem boots up regularry, even if i connect the Digi during boot (so i can see it in MPD).

anyone experienced this issue?
I've tried multiple power supply (now on GPIO i have 5.21 Volts at boot) but no significative results.

thanks

Gabriele

Hi Gabriele,

even if i connect the Digi during boot (so i can see it in MPD).

Does it work after connecting it?
Your DAC is a Digi, Digi + or Digi + pro?

You can try to update the kernel.

updating the kernel:
* get access to the console (ssh)

* check the free space on your sd card (<=85%). If not resize your partition (see documentation)

* update the kernel and firmware
Code: Select all
pacman -Sy --force raspberrypi-firmware raspberrypi-bootloader linux-raspberrypi

* add "dtparam=audio=on" to your /boot/config.txt
Code: Select all
    # Uncomment one of these lines to enable an audio interface
    #dtoverlay=hifiberry-dac
    #dtoverlay=hifiberry-dacplus
    dtoverlay=hifiberry-digi
    #dtoverlay=hifiberry-amp
    #dtoverlay=iqaudio-dac
    #dtoverlay=iqaudio-dacplus
    dtparam=audio=on

* delete the file /etc/modules-load.d/ras....conf

* change the kernel name in data base (optional only cosmetic)
Code: Select all
uname -a
Linux runeaudio 4.4.33-1-ARCH #1 SMP Sat Nov 19 14:09:17 MST 2016 armv7l GNU/Linux

Code: Select all
redis-cli set kernel "Linux runeaudio 4.4.33-1-ARCH"

Hi Frank.
I'll try what you have listed. And I make you know if it's working.
By the way is a Digi+

I've tried all even on a RPI2 but nothing seems to work.
even by using only the rpi with the Digi and connected via HDMI i don't have any boot, otherwise i have boot only if i disconnect the board and the connect it only when on the display i have the four Berries.

I think my Digi is broken.

GUYS the problem is solved!
So today I've received my new hi-fi berry digi and I've plugged in and booted,and now it works. I've noticed a variation on the HW release of the HifiBerry passed from 1.1 at 1.2.
Thank to all of you for the help.
